Today, I logged onto the World of Warcraft site today to verify what time my account would expire.
When I entered my account name and password, it felt as if someone thing was missing. When I found out what it wa, it worried me a little bit.
It turns out my authenticator was disabled, and I was not the one who disabled it.
I did not get an email or any form of information that anything in my account had been changed.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yes. I don't know if the following applies to your case or not but Blizzard has removed authenticators.
Blizzard got hacked recently. If you had an old mobile authenticator attached to your account it was removed when Blizzard updated their system in response to the hack because the old mobile authenticators could not be updated to the new system.
Basically, all mobile authenticators which were not Apple/Android broke and got removed.
My authenticator is still working as intended. As far as I know, my account is the same as it has been before blizzard got hacked.
My advice would be to change your password, and re-attach your authenticator.

Were you using a physical authenticator? I don't believe they removed those, only mobile ones.

I was (and still am) using the mobile one from my iPhone. I did however reattach it after I read about the security breach.
It was up for about a week before it got removed.

Not quite true. All mobile authenticators for US users were marked as invalid and on their login to Battle.net they were forced to reset it.
To the OP, this is likely the reason, or that someone had gotten into your account (or email) and requested your authenticator be removed. If the latter is the case, you need to change your email/password/etc.

What I'm interested in is your ingame belongings... is everything still intact? Or are you coming back from a break?

I am done playing for now. Recently got married and having another child so the wife does not care too much for the game at this time. I am however hoping a little convincing will help a little bit haha.
As for ingame belonging, everything seemed to be okay. I have 4 85s, a level 60 twink, and a 56 paladin spread across 3 servers. I didn't play anything but the 56 paladin for a few days because that was my new main. (Guild changed realms a while ago and I didn't want to spend $55 to transfer and race change my 85 Blood Elf Paladin.) So I'm not sure if anything was missing on those other 5 classes.
I was just curious if anyone else had noticed this and if they did actually have someone missing.
