Fire Mages - Shatter
Return to board index
Since fire mages now have shatter as passive ability, I got ice Ward to cast on the tank so that mobs are frozen on first hit, but I ask myself is it worth to refresh Ice Ward? I am not sure it works against bosses... do you actually think it is worth trying to freeze the mobs?
The way I see it, Shatter is just a minor quality of life improvement given to Fire and Arcane mages, as far as PvE goes.
As you have mentioned, most bosses (be they 5 man or raids) are immune to being Frozen. As a result, Shatter's usefulness will be limited to leveling, soloing dungies/raids and occasionally trash packs (Freeze don't tend to last very long as they break with damage).
In PvP on the other hand...let's just say dem warlocks are getting fried :D
As far as Ice Ward goes, it sounds nice on paper, but in reality it may not be well received by tanks. In general, tanks dislike not having control over the mobs they're tanking, especially when it comes to positioning mobs (even more so if the pack consists of casters and/or ranged obs). This hatred is usually turned upon knockback abilities, but aoe freeze may also be included.
Again in PvP on the other hand, I can see this as a very useful tool to help your healer get away from AngryMcRageFaces.
So most of the talents on that tear feel pretty useless... right now. Unless Mists has fights like the parasites on magmaw where they slower they run the better. Or We could have an additional silence?
