My install log states "installed successfully" but I'm hitting all kinds of fatal exception errors upon hitting the launcher. Ugh

I'm getting a little concerned. I opened the launcher, it downloaded some tools, then the launcher closed, and then this little window called "World of Warcraft Setup" opened up.
In this little window, there's this loading bar, and above it it says ""Updating setup files". And what concerns me is that the bar has been stuck
here
for the past hour or so.
It moves a little forward, and then goes back to the same spot, 15 secs later it moves a little forward, then back to the same spot.
Is this normal? should I be concerned?
Rank,
Mine stuttered a little on the setup box, but only took a minute or so, then the new launcher popped up. I did hang at 0% for a good half hour or so, but I could tell through performance monitor, that there was activity going on. It took about an hour and a half to finally start the download.

One other point...I would disable all the addons before logging in.
Better yet...major patches especially expansion ones are always a good time to open your addon folder,
write down those you are using and then delete the whole folder.
Start fresh, logging in and then exiting the game to create a new empty addon folder and download addons compatible with the upcoming expansion.
Otherwise you find may conflict among addons that can cause crashes and/or poor game play.
Cheers to a smooth new beginning in the same old place :)

Well the thing is, mine has stuttered on the setup box since 11 am, its now almost 2 hours later, and its still doing the exact same thing, its stuck on the same spot, it moves a bit forward, then back, then forward, then back. I haven't even gotten to the new launcher.

Man, no clue for you guys.
I hate to even say it, but I see a fresh install in your future.

I am hoping that when I get home in 4 hours or so it will be done. I had my stepson start the launcher and he said it was installing new tools.

please don't say it, seeing as I lack the cataclysm DVDs, it means I'll have to re-download well over 16GB of data which on my really really crappy internet speed of 50 Kb/sec can take anywhere from a week to a week and a half.

This is EXACTLY what its doing for me. I let it go for almost 6 hours and it never progressed beyond that point. I closed it and ran launcher again and it downloaded new tools then setup ran and got stuck in the same place. There doesn't seem to be ANY progress. What can I do to get this update to function?
This was exactly what happened to me, I followed the blizzard troubleshooting guide.
Verify that the Secondary Logon Service is Enabled
The Secondary Logon service must be enabled for the game to install and run. Depending on your version of Windows, you can navigate to the service options through one of the following methods:
Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services
Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services
If the service is disabled, set it to Automatic. Be advised that some security programs (such as AVG) can potentially turn this service off. If the service becomes disabled again after you've switched it to automatic, you will need to configure your security program to stop disabling the service.
this worked for me.

Ok, I did that, its now enabled, and set to automatic, but the problem persists, the bar is still on the same spot, and its moving back and forth

Did you try closing the launcher and restarting it?
Post by

trying that now
Edit: And nope, didn't worked. Closed everything, opened launcher, says its downloading updated tools, progress bar finishes, launcher closes, world of warcraft setup windows opens, progress bar moves to the exact spot where it was before, and its doing the back-and-forth thing again.

All I did, was that troubleshooting thing, closed every open program, xfire, firefox windows, I closed gamebooster and speedboost from my processes and relaunched the launcher and it launched fine with the blizzard launcher and the progress bar popped up again but automatically switched to a blizzard launcher with the Mists of Pandaria logo this time.
But I did have the back and fort thing at first like you.

I had the same problem after hour and half searching .. removing files and stuff i found a solution .. totaly randomly while i was playing around with the files here it is:
there is no need to delete or rename any thing
close all wow related apps runing
open task manager and make sure you dont have any of the following apps runing in processes tabs: Agent.exe , WoW-4.3-5.0.15890-enUS-Downloader.exe , World of Warcraft Migration Setup.exe or any other wow related
navigate to your wow folder: World of Warcraft\Temp\5.0Migration
right click on World of Warcraft Migration Setup.exe > Properties > Compatibility > check run this program in compatibility with windows xp
run World of Warcraft Migration Setup.exe as administrator
please let me know if this works for your situation
