I haven't played WoW in awhile, back in the days when lvl 60 was max i stopped playing.
Anyways my friend wants to start playing and i figured id join him.. but have no idea what the classes are like after the years. Im looking a Hybrid DPS/Heal class ( that could be respeced later if i decide to fill high end party roles that a hybrid just could not out heal or out DPS what was needed )
From the little searching ive done, Caster druids are said to be good hybrids and one that has really interested me is Disc priests have come up a few times as being able to dish out some dmg and have very respectable healing capabilities.
Ive already previously played a caster druid. But have never played a priest in any form so the Disc priest has me interested.
Is Disc Priest a good choice for a hybrid Heal/DPS ? Or anyone else have some other input i may have missed as i have not played in years ? Any kind of class that can have DPS but also good support and/or healing aspects.
Thanks in Advance :)

They are just about to change the way many classes work with the big patch tomorrow, so your timing may not be the best.
Disc priest is a lot of fun. You can put out a respectable amount of damage for a healer and it's mostly set up to reward you for using certain damaging spells. Priest over all has solid dedicated dealing (Holy) and ranged damage (Shadow) specs. But you are a squishy clothy.
Paladins have the options of melee dps and decent healing while benefiting from plate gear. The dps spec doesn't heal other much ever.
Druids have a choice between ranged dps and melee, with a solid heal spec. Moonkin doesn't play exactly the same as it did in early WoW.
Shaman also have melee, ranged and healing specs. Totems are going to be getting a major overhaul, and I haven't played a shaman, so can't speak to it much. I have seen some very competent heals and dps shaman in groups.
If you're interested in trying a priest, by all means go for it. Really, you enjoying the class is the most important part in how effective it will be. Disc priest is the closest to what you're probably thinking of with "hybrid class" since they took out the option to multispec.

My main healer is a disc priest, so I can certainly endorse it. You're still not a DPS, so questing can be clothy level daunting, but the shield ability can help a LOT.
Enjoy :)
