Hey there, let me try to help.
First off, I suggest reading
The Restoration Druid PVE Guide
if you haven't already, might get some tips and tricks from there. *They are about HOT
True, we are based around our HoTs, and most of our AoE healing comes from there, but we can also heal nicely with our casted spells, don't forget them which I think you might be.
*3 stacks of lifebloom must be always kept on the tank, refrest with LB or direct heals
correctamundo. LB is one of our biggest heal, and letting it fall off at the right time if the tank is in trouble isn't that bad of a thing, but most of the time you do want to keep it up.
*It is important to keep up harmony as it is our Mastery
Correct again. While it might not be much depending on the gear you described, it is still a nice bonus. Normally this isn't to hard to do if you are casting
Swiftmend
on every CD and
Nourish
/
Regrowth
to try and refresh it and LB on the tank.
*Use Tree of Life during 'Oh Crap' moments
Mostly true, although it could be popped if you know the tank / group is going to be taking heavy AoE damage.
Now for actual advice haha.
Keep LB on tank, refreshing with Nourish / Regrowth to also prolong Harmony, only letting it drop off intentionally if tank is about to take a big hit (timing is everything using that trick)
Use Wild Growth on every CD, even if your group may not need it at the moment, it provides a nice "blanket" effect, and can proc some things like Clearcasting.
If you keep finding yourself in the position where you can't keep the tank up, using just Wild Growth and a Rejuv to touch up here and there for the group is fine, while also keeping *nearly* every HoT you have rolling on the tank (Regrowth is not recommended for continuous up time as it's an emergency heal and it's HoT portion is lack-luster.)
If you find yourself where the group as a whole is hard to keep up, Wild Growth, Rolling Rejuv on everyone, and using Swiftmend when people are grouped up is best.
There's also 2 ways to when to use Tree of Life and how to use it. You can use it only "In Case of Emergency break Glass" way, or try to use it every boss fight. In the first part, your best bet would be using Tree, and Tranq. right after, while popping a trinket if available. If you want to use it every fight though, it's best to LB everyone you can while in Tree form *note, you can use LB on multiple people, but when Tree falls off, the next person you refresh LB on will keep the stacks while everyone else will lose them* and use the instant Regrowth's on the tank if he's taking heavy damage.
Hope this helped!

The heroics are really not hard. It is about knowing when there is dmg. Even when going in there with pvp gear it shouldn't be an issue as long as you know a minimum about the class, have keybindings, and dispel.
DISPEL! Please do it, it saves loads of dmg.
About the tree of life question, use it when you know it will be hard: Trash before the queen boss in Well of Eternity. (those eyes and mobs which spawn copies). Trash before Moruzond (Tell dps to cc one, or tell the tank to POP A CD!
Just be aware of your suroundings. Druids are very mobile when it comes to healing and dont be afraid to pop travel form to get out of @#$% quickly. (for example sylvanas). The night elf lady can be a pain to do tho... ppl standing in !@#$ and dont interrupting. Be sure to watch where you are standing and dont get cought in the stun, you can easily get behind on healing. Dont be afraid to use tranquillity either.
I sometimes go into one of the Hc's (full pug), and unequip some gear to make it more fun :P
Wipes dont rly occur. I have done one: Without a ring, Trinket, Weapon, off-hand AND relic. (Endtime it was. The nightelf and sylvanas and moruzond ofc) It's about getting used to the incomming dmg. Knowing when it is there is the key. And dispell @#$% for god's sake.

I put on pvp gear to increase my ilvl so that I could get in to HOT's purely for gear
*sigh*
My sentiments exactly. You put on PVP gear to get into a level of PVE dungeon healing that you're clearly not geared for and then cry about how hard it is? /sigh. Put in the work, grind rep to get the gear from quartermasters, do dungeons you're appropriate for and earn the gear and then your HoT strategy will work.
It's really not that big of a deal. At all.
My DK
, for example, hit 85 on Sunday, and I just went and bought all of the 377 pvp gear I could find, threw it on, and started tanking heroics right away. Is it optimal? Hardly. Is it doable? Without much effort, yes. I've done this with a holy priest and a ret paladin as well. A little intelligence goes a long way.
As far as the OP, keep your hots up on the tank, WG for group damage, and just pre-cast Healing Touches. Don't bother with spamming Nourish too much, unless the tanks really just taking hardly any damage. Other than that, spot heal with Rejuv and clearcasted Regrowths. Tranq is your OSHI- button. Tree of Life is something you plan ahead for generally, since you invoke the GCD, it's slow for reacting to large damage spikes.

I also use tree for mana conservation; if you have a fast moving tank in a dungeon pop tree often and on cd to save mana, blanket lb instead of rejuv to heal and profit from all the free regrowths. So tree use depends on damage but also on the kind of tank you have.
