Was I Wrong? (H Zon'ozz)

Hello!
Something just occurred, and I was wondering, from outsiders' perspectives, if I did the wrong thing or the right thing.
So, a little background.
I'm terrible at positioning the ball on Heroic Zon'ozz. For some reason, that's the one thing I suck at, poorly, at this game. I know. It's not hard. But for some reason, I have trouble with it.
I've been getting better. Last week, my guild (only a month old), downed Heroic Zon'ozz (10 man).
Today, the first pull, I messed up. The ranged didn't align the ball (well, bounce), properly once it had spawned. However, I was in "survival tunnel vision" and didn't move him over to it. My bad.
Second pull. Things just didn't go well. Really, people weren't spaced right, someone didn't deal with Disrupting Shadows properly, and... People were messing up left and right. Our Hunter died (out of range from heals, we believe), and our healer battle-rezzed him.
Third pull. Where things really went wrong-- for me anyhow. We were in the middle of a black phase. I was trying to position Zon'ozz properly for the upcoming "clear phase", and get my diseases as a Blood DK up on it and the claw, and keep my Blood Shield and Health up. While simultaneously doing all of that, our Hunter dies again. I am very well aware that everyone is busy in that phase, and that I am not the only one. A battle rez was called for.
In a split second, a ton of thoughts rushed to my mind:
The Druid's battle rez might be back up, as we had spent a while before the fight, and inside of it. I wasn't sure.
As a Death Knight, my battle rez is incredibly inferior, as it resurrects so poorly that it often results in death again. 20% Health isn't much.
If I spend time generating 50 Runic Power for my battle rez, it may make me mess up after.
I have been told-- in other raids, but nonetheless, to not use my battle rez. It has been advised that I don't, and I have been yelled at for it before. More than once.
Because of those reasons (yes, I think pretty fast, those did all hit me quickly), I decided to not rez the Hunter when it was called out for-- it wasn't deep in the fight (probably around 75%-80% HP remaining), and I figured it would be another wipe-- or that the Druid, or someone, would get him.
After the fight, it was made clear that he was still on CD. I requested that, due to my battle rez being so poor, my name be called out (Doom-- Doomwrath) if I am to battle rez, in the event that it is truly needed. "Doom, rez." Simple as that.
I was told by the Raid Leader that he was not happy with me "not wanting to play my class," and promptly sat out for the remainder of the night.
Normally I don't question my Raid Leader, but... I don't know. Was I wrong in this situation?
Thank you for your time.

I was expecting something involving Hunters.
I am disappointed.
While simultaneously doing all of that, our Hunter dies again
Never mind. Get one of your healers to focus heal the Hunter. Just trust me - if left unattended they WILL die. They have close to zero ways to mitigate the tentacle phase.
On a more on-topic note, that really seems like a major communication failure. I'd personally have rezzed, but only after the black phase ended.

really i though it was a cast? maybe i mixed it up with a DK spell that did have a cast timer.
Only DK spell involving a cast is Army of Dead, however, in return we take less damage equal to our dodge and parry. So, there's no worry in that regard.
----------------------------------------
After reading people's comments... And talking with my raid leader later.... I guess it can be summed up as yes I did f' up, but under the same regard, things could have been handled better.
I appreciate hearing your responses.... Thank you.

This doesn't have to be a dichotomy.
You were wrong, but your RL was also a @#$%^&-canoe about it.
Never understood why people play games (which are for fun) and then actively try to make them as un-fun as possible. Probably explains why I quit raiding.

Yeah... I'm kinda mixed. I always wanted hardcore raiding, but... The tense part of it... I kinda wish the atmosphere was different.

There are different levels of stress that come with hardcore raiding though. One of the biggest tips I can give you if you want to get into hardcore raiding is follow these two rules.
Do your job perfectly
You don't need to worry about what other people are doing, that's their job, and that's the raid leaders job. If you want to get in at the ground floor of a hardcore raiding guild, you need to know what YOU and only YOU needs to do in every fight, and do it perfectly every time.
Do whatever the raid leader says.
If you follow the raid leaders instructions and something goes wrong, that's on him. After the wipe happens, you can give input on what's going on for you, but until that wipe is called, you do what they say, and adapt your tanking skills to fit that situation.
GL with your raiding.
Cheers,
Hat

My thoughts exactly. If he wants a ress, throw the ress. If it turns out to be wasted, the RL is to blame, not you. And as a stand-in RL in one of the raiding teams in my last guild, I know the difference between healing, and being a RL - As a healer, I look at the healthbars, debuffs and where I'm standing. That's it. If I try to focus on how the raid is doing, I end up messing up doing my role properly. If our raid leader wants a Battle Ress, he yells BR, and he gets it. If he doesn't, we keep our hands off our BRess hotkey. The RL most likely has a far better overview of the situation than you do, and is the one you should adhere to, no matter how stupid it might look. That person, especially in a guild, is most likely more competent at the job than you are, or at least trusted enough to be put in charge.

No, your RL is the baddie here.
Simply calling out "B-rez" is no longer acceptable for a Raid leader now that multiple classes have the ability. And you are 100% correct, a DK res is a last resort because of the low health on return.
A good RL will call out WHO to res, and WHO should res them.
