iirc, someone took the time to measure the distance along various continents and such. And then using the map of Azeroth they found out it was around the size of the moon.
So the more lore-based Azeroth would probably be closer to the size of Earth.

In the lore, It took a group of characters 5 weeks to travel across the Area north of Hammerfall. In real life the continents are probably the size of either england or slightly larger.

Someone actually has made a comparison about some of the game worlds. WoW is quite small in "real life" size, approximately 80 square miles. (207 square kilometers) Great Britain for example is ~244 000 square kilometers in size. (1000x more)
I can't post links yet, but just google "game world comparison" and you should see the picture/map.
Lore wise it's of course different, but since you asked about real life. :)
