Jinora plot. YAY!
Post by

Korra is shall we say very strong, and likes to think with well her fists. They work for her. As avatar I think Aang is better but I do like Korra quite a bit. Maybe at the end of this book we will see her understand the roll of the avatar more.
That's what they wanted to do. They had Aang, the pacifist. He tried to avoid confrontation at all costs, never wanting to fight unless it was the last possible thing. Always tried to think/talk it out. That's how he was raised. But becoming the Avatar you can't always solve the problems that way.
And now we're having the reverse with Korra. Instead she is headstrong and tries to solve everything with her fists. She doesn't stop and think about the situation, she just goes at it and hopes that killing it with fire will solve something. And up until now, that has worked for the most part. But in this situation she is going to have to slow down and think things through.
And with her trying to connect with the spirits, she'll come to know that not everything can be solved with fists. Hopefully...
Edit:Jinora plot. YAY!
Ya, it seems her and Korra might travel together at some point. Away from Tenzin and the others for some spiritual escapades.

That's the thing that bothers me, actually. She was like this constantly last season, with everything blowing up in her face again and again. You'd think she would've learned something the seventh time, right? But everything worked out for her anyway, and now she's acting even
more
hotheaded, self-important, and moronic.
And that's what I'm wondering; when that's finally going to change. By this point in the show (both season-wise and number of episodes-wise), the characters in A:TLA had actual development. Only characters I'm seeing that in here are Tenzin's circle and Asami. I just don't want to wait three full seasons before Korra finally stops punching spirit portals and starts acting like an avatar.

only 2 eps in, I think we can believe in Bryke to lead us to character development.

I agree with this. She's already wanting to learn more about the spirits from her uncle. She even tried that technique to calm the spirits, but it didn't work. For her to properly use it, she will need to change some. And with her learning from the previous Avatars, I'm sure it'll go by a little quicker.
The only time she calms down and thinks is when there is nothing else for her to do. Just like when she was captured by Tarrlock. She just sat there and meditated on the visions she was having. She uses that as a last resort much like Aang using brute force as a last resort.

To be fair, the same could be said about the previous characters.
Aang didn't started taking his responsibilities as Avatar seriously until waaaaaaaaaaaaaay later. Most of the time he was a goofy kid who just wanted to have some fun. Katara was all sweet and maternal most of the time, she didn't started getting serious and start kicking some serious ass until the third season.
Zuko started as an angry jerk, and didn't started actually seeing with clarity until the third season.
Korra has shown improvements over the first season, where she was rebellious, anti-authoritarian, and lazy. She eventually came to respect authority, and to work with others rather than be a lone wolf, not to mention her serious dedication in honing her skills rather than spend her days goofing around most of the time.

Two episodes into the
second season
. I mean, if they're going to pretend the first season didn't exist, fine by me. Probably better off that way.
And Rank, I don't think we watched the same show. Aang started taking things seriously at the latest after "The Deserter" where his carelessness cost him, but he obviously started taking responsibility once he learned of the comet. Katara started stepping up as early as "Imprisoned", and Zuko gained depth at least around "The Storm", if not "Winter Solstice".
And I don't see how Korra has come to respect authority when the first two episodes of this season literally center around her
not
respecting her father and Tenzin.(##RESPBREAK##)8##DELIM##Kangi##DELIM##

Just watched the Season premiere. God I love Korra.
I mean, the first show was perfect. Absolutely flawless. But I Avatar Korra is my favorite avatar, and I love seeing that universe proceed through its industrial revolution, what with snowmobiles and motion pictures and everything. Second Season looks like it will be far and above the first (which was also very good).

So the Book 2 premier only had 2.6 million viewers whereas Book 1 has 4.5 million, hopefully the ratings get bumped up.

I believe it might have a lot to do with the time slot. And not to mention that a lot of people don't really watch shows when their air. Some either DVR it, like I did, or some just opt to watch online. But others usually go out Friday nights. And all the kids at home probably have a hard time watching what they want.
Along with what was said in the actual article.

Honestly, Im betting people forgot about it, considering how long it took to release book 2...
I had completely forgotten about the TV show until I saw the thread on Wowhead.

One thing that amazes me is how much of a natural Korra is compared to Aang. Just look at how she uses the Avatar State. During the entire show, Aang was unable to enter Avatar State willingly even once. It was always due to some extreme circumstance, such as dire anger, some ocean spirit taking over, getting impaled on a rock, etc. The one time he came close to enter Avatar State while fully aware and conscious of his actions was when he was trying to unlock his seventh chakra, but that's it. And even that was never tried again when Azula shot him.
Now look at Korra, she can use the avatar state at any time, at any place, even for trivial things like winning an air scooter race.

People (Tenzin) chastise her for misuse of the Avatar State, but as Tenzin said, it's not a simple boost. In the Avatar state, you are channeling the Avatar Spirit and all of its forms. So if you use it to win a race, that means the Avatar Spirit wanted to win that race, or it would have stopped.

I'm wondering if this is something they want to explore. Aang made the mistake of underusing the Avatar State. He barely used it at all, which made a lot of situations waaaay more complicated than they should had been (Example, on the day of the black sun, it would had been a lot easier to go Avatar State, and wreck S*** up in the fire nation and end the war then and there.).
So now I'm wondering if they're gonna explore the opposite on Korra, and show what happens when you abuse of the Avatar State, and use it not only to win every battle, but even for mundane day to day activities, or trivial ego boosting. I mean, so far the only downside we know of the Avatar State is that if you're killed while in that state, the Avatar Cycle is broken forever, and all past spirits die, and no future Avatars will ever be born.
But being killed while essentially in God Mode is pretty damned hard, so I have to wonder if they're gonna explore other downsides of depending too much on it like a crutch.

That'd be interesting. Another thing to explore is the social implications. When your transcendental sum of all your past lives spends a lot of time in your body, people might have different perceptions of your character than who you really are.

So I was a little annoyed at how oblivious Korra is to Unalaq's blatant power grab. His "uniting" of the Southern and Northern Tribes is about the same as Sozin's uniting of the whole world, or North Korea's desire to "unite" the Koreas. I actually found the story with Kya, Bumi, and Tenzin to be more engaging than Korra's pigheadedness.
Still though, I enjoyed seeing her reconcile with her parents, and then facepalmed at Unalaq's stupid move of arresting the Avatar's parents. For someone who wants the Avatar to remain neutral (out of fear that she'd side with the rebels, her people), he's pretty terrible at choosing moves that keep her neutral. Reminds me of how Japan bombed Pearl Harbor to scare the United States into staying neutral, but just ended up making an extremely powerful enemy.

The Nicktoons channel airs the episode on Saturday, not sure what time exactly.
And I agree with Skree. I too liked story "B" more than story "A".
And we find out that Aang played favorites with his children. Giving most, if not all, of his attention to Tenzin. I think I'm liking their story more so than Korra's atm.
But wouldn't there be some consequences if Unalaq's plans were to happen? I mean it probably isn't such a good idea if the real world and the spiritual world had easy access to each other

I found a site to watch them on, Rank..but thank you.
i also have to agree, Tenzin's developing story is entertaining me more than Korra's at the moment.
