Hey all!
I'm now back to wow after like half year. Can any1 tell me what is the "cool" PVE mage talent nowdays?
I was arcane, is it worth to change to fire, dunno much about changes related to mages.
Any1 can link me a talent , glyph, and gem setup? or a guide to it?

My advice would be head over to Elitest Jerks for fire mage or arcane mage builds, personally I prefer arcane but fire does seem rather powerful as always. Though I think arcane's on par if not better at the moment but I've yet to take arcane to 85, just at 80 with it, and fire I have seen at 85.

Fire has better damage over the course of a fight, but Arcane does much better if you need burst damage. There are only a few fights that need burst damage, mainly the last 2 in DS thanks to the tendons on the Spine and the fragments on Madness. But with all the nerfs to DS it shouldn't matter that much. You could probably go as Frost and do decent damage.

Actually, as my raid is attempting heroic Spine, I can assure you that the burst is very much needed to burn the tendons. You can see a huge difference between Arcane and Fire in this fight.

Well heroic is a different story, I didn't think someone coming back after 6 months would be attempting heroic spine anytime soon. Normal can easily get pugged on.

Glad to see an old familiar face around these boards! I just started playing my mage again after about a 14 months hiatus. I played a DK in Firelands and was playing a resto shammy in DS. Just started getting my mage regeared and really missed him /tear.

Welcome back. :)
The mage forums are a little dead these days, but hopefully it'll perk up once MoP is out.

They seem a little dead :(
I stopped playing my mage over a year ago due to guild disband while progressing on H Cho'gall. Leveled a DK and played him through 6/7HM FL before quitting in August...picked the game back up in November and leveled a Shammy for DS. I loved DW Frost DK as I had never played melee before and it was fun. But my issue with healing (my resto shammy) is I just get tunnel visioned on my vuhdo (addon better than grid) and raid mechanics which left me no time to actually enjoy what I was doing.
So I faction/realm changed my mage after deciding to main him again in MoP. Every time I come back to an old character I am surprised how easy it is to catch them up gearwise with current content. Although I was 370 ilvl a year ago when I stopped.
One of the biggest things I've missed about mage is the theorycrafting...if you recall I was pretty militant on here about everything top tier mage :P
SO, this is probably the wrong thread to do so, but I must ask about what I read in another post of keeping pyro dot up. EJ is dead for mages and every theorycrafting resource I've used has nothing mentioned about it. So I'm curious if you guys have any hard data/proof/sims to conclude that keeping the dot up is indeed a dps improvement.

Zakhar was to one to raise the point in this thread

There's some calculation in there if you'd like to see.
