I'd say keep it. Get a bit of free gold, a GM would honestly not takeit from you anyway. Just install an antivirus and check for keyloggers every now and then.

Accounts rarely get hacked. They're mostly compromised by going to shady sites or buying gold.
Wow, you're really going to accuse someone so blatantly, who you don't know, of buying gold? Yes it happens, yes it's wrong but you in no way have knowledge of rageaholic doing so. Accounts DO get hacked. Rare or not.
As far as "shady sites" that could mean a multitude of things. For instance are you inferring that rageaholic purposfully went to a "shady site." Or are you suggestion he was 'tricked' by sites pretending to be Blizzard?
Honestly, it's not THAT rare to be
hacked
. I had three officers of mine get hacked within weeks of each other. These are people I play with daily, speak to out of game weekly if not daily. And they didn't buy gold. Or get 'tricked' by a third party site pretending to be Blizzard. The most likely cause was key-loggers or something of the like.
You're post offered nothing constructive nor did you give an opinion on his actual question...
TL;DR - The kid was just asking a simple question about items he got back, don't accuse him of anything more or insinuate he might have bought gold; nothing positive can come of such things.

Well thanks for anwsering my question. "hacked", "compromised" same thing! Also I didn't buy gold, do you think I would have, then go on wowhead feeling weird about getting some free stuff?
What are you trying to say? My account was compromised then I got it back from a GM I'm not lying, what would be the point?
Gee maybe you should think before you post
No...hacked and compromised is not the same thing. Don't buy gold...don't go to shady WoW sites and you won't end up having your account hijacked.
Once again: Not relevant to rageaholic' original post.

I remember reading a post somewhere (possibly Reddit) that GMs actually like letting you keep stuff you get from being hacked.
Oh, I remember, it was an AMA with a former GM of six years. It was a really good read and confirmed what I thought.

all you have to do is click on a corrupted link wether in an email or search engine, and you can get a virus/keylogger. it doesnt even have to be wow related. To assume someone is only going to shady wow sites or buying gold is absurd.

Contact a GM and let them if for no other reason than to cover your butt. If you get someone looking at your account and finding the discrepancy they're going to check if you reported it. If not, you can find your account locked again for it. Contacting a GM will make sure that whatever happens, you have a paper trail saying you did the right thing.
The small profit is not worth the account lock in my eyes.
