My account was stolen twice via the Blizzard Phone Service due to an epic fail on Blizzards part
The hacker used my toon to promote his own toon to GM and steal my Guild T S I I X that i created in 2007 Burning Crusade. In 2012 Dragon Soul we reached the top 200 World Rankings, 2nd on the Server and had 1000 members. All of that is over now. I am done with this game and any game made by Blizzard.
The full is story on my facebook page just google ' T666 facebook '

Account security is your responsibility. Blizzard could have allowed for some stronger security controls, but ultimately it's on you to keep your account secure. If you don't bother to educate yourself about account security and instead rely on someone else to maintain it for you when it's not their responsibility, you're making a terrible decision.

"In this particular situation, it appears that we have assisted with providing guild leadership back to your account in the past. Specifically, in early March of this year we investigated a similar situation with your account. Due to the details surrounding this situation, I am not able to reinstate your character as the guild leader. Please understand that account security is a top priority, and it is in your sole responsibility."

I'm afraid that's all there is to it. Sucks that you lost your account and guild, and especially through circumstances like that, but there are millions of accounts in WoW. It sucks when stuff like this happens, but there were probably things you could have done to help the situation, but didn't.

Making a complaint thread, but not actually telling us what happened is pretty pointless. I doubt many people can be bothered searching Facebook for your emotional story on how Blizzard wronged you. Especially since it seems it's your own fault.

^ This, since as far as I'm aware, Blizzard doesn't come to your house and sets up the security on your computer.

How does one steal an account via Blizzard Phone service? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's where you actually call Blizzard, yes? Seems to me you're suggesting that either your phone is tapped by wow-hackers, or that it was an inside job on Blizzard's end. I'm not sure which is more outlandish.

Criticism of Blizzard, seems to cause some people to disengage their brain and post such rubbish as you can see above.
All the computer security in the world won't help you if some fool on the Blizzard phone service doesn't do their job properly and allows somebody without the required details to change the account over.
You are powerless because it happened at Blizzard's end.

QFT. Everyone above apparently failed to grasp all the details in his facebook page. He stated clearly that he had secured his account properly, both on his end, and even with an authenticator. The fault was with Blizzard who allowed someone to change his account details without the proper information to do so. Either it's a case of Social Engineering, or a case of the Blizzard rep failing entirely to do their job properly in verifying all the information. I'm willing to bet it's a bit of both. Atleast I'd hope the Blizzard rep didn't just say "Yeah sure, we don't need any of the normal info, just give me the information you want to change." Just the fact they removed the authenticator means they skipped their protocols. Every time I have had to remove it due accidentally forgetting to remove my authenticator before resetting my phone, I have had to show proof of ID. And that's just a normal situation, not even an issue of someone changing account info AND removing an authenticator. Plus the fact that it was noted that using the CD-key would not be a proper way to ID the called in removing said authenticator.
You can't do anything if Blizzard has failed to train their employees properly, no matter how good your security may be. If Blizzard was smart, they would fire the responsible employee(s) that gave your account off to another person without verifying information, and make sure everything from your guild, to what was in your guild, is properly restored to you. Because, while they may try to through the old "account security is your responsibility" at you, THEY made the mistake. It may have only been one of their employees, but, to turn their words on them, "They are ultimately responsible for the actions of their employees, and the security breaches THEY may cause."

I usually agree with this stance, and I really hate how Blizzard is baby-sitting its users to keep their accounts secure, but in this case -
if what he said is true
- is actually Blizzard's fault. They didn't steal his password or anything like that; blizzard handed his account to them.
I actually did go and read the story after making my post, and I have to agree. IF WHAT HE SAID IS TRUE, then Blizzard definitely handed over his account and has now closed the matter without a chance of hearing more.

I doubt what he says is true to be completely honest. This sounds like the kind of BS I'd make up to get myself out of a stupid situation.
Blizzard are too big of a company to make a STUPID mistake like this.
I think you're out of line here. You don't know the details of the situation, so to decide that he must be lying and Blizzard must be in the right, purely because they are a large company, is unfair to the OP and a strange leap of logic to say the least.
Why do we bother having industry watchdogs and ombudsmen, if all large companies are automatically considered 100% trustworthy and infallible?

This thread has derailed beyond anyone's ability to salvage it.
I'm sorry for the OPs troubles. I wish you luck and hope you find enjoyment in other things.
Cheers,
