Sounds like you have multiple keyboard profiles set up in Windows, are you hitting Alt+Shift at same time? It's the default hotkey to switch between input locales.

Moved to WoW Help. When I am playing, sometimes my keyboard messes up, and some letters switch. For instance, My "W" key becomes Z, and my A key becomes my Q key. This is very annoying, and the only way to reset my keyboard is to restart WoW. Is there anything I can do to revert it instead of restarting WoW?
Is that your exact problem? Is it only those keys? The fact that restarting the game fixes it sounds like it might be a software problem, but if its only those few keys, it might be a hardware issue with your keyboard.
Do you have the same problem outside of wow?
Cheers,
Hat

It is only a few keys, and yes, it only happens in WoW.
I really don't know what to make of that problem. I would suggest using another keyboard for a while to see if it still happens. If it does then you've ruled out that its your keyboard, and you can focus on software problems.

How do I visit these profiles?
You can see them in Control Panel - Region and Language - Keyboards and Languages tab.
Hit the change keyboards button and it opens up a window displaying all installed keyboard layouts.
This window also has multiple tabs, the rightmost allows you to change the hotkey switch, or even to disable it.

I had this problem too. Sometimes, for no accountable reason, I suddenly found a whole load of my keys had been swapped around. I mainly noticed it when I tried to use "Y" to show my achievements, and instead I drew/put away my weapons as though I had pressed "Z"!
The answer was (as stated above) that I had language settings for both English and German on my machine, and pressing "Shift + Alt" switched between the different keyboard settings. And it just so happens that the auction house add-on that I use, uses the "Shift + Alt" combination as a "quick buyout" method, and this was what caused the switch.
I simply went into the control panel, region and languages settings, and disabled the keypress, and now everything is fine.
