No worse then KotOR I where the only same sex pairing was with
Juhani.
It was different.
Her race (Cathars) wasn't completely developed at that time, and when LucasArts found out about them wanting to introduce a lesbian romance option, they ordered bioware to back off, so they didn't finished off that storyline (indeed you can't complete that romance at all) and they didn't bothered with polishing the Cathar models.Um, yeah Rank you can; when you finish it, it just says that Juhani is attracted to the Female Revan, but it doesn't go any farther(same as the other romances for that game).
how long has it been since you played kotor?
With Basthila: You can complete the romance, which includes heavy flirtation, lots of dialog where they discuss their feelings, and a final cutscene in your bunk where they share a kiss. Later on the Death Forge if romanced you can use that to bring her back to light-side.
With Carth (Despite how I despise this character): You can complete the romance, which also includes heavy flirtation (whenever he's not too busy repeating for the billionth time that he doesn't trust you or anyone else for that matter) their mutual feelings are addressed at several opportunities, there is a romance cutscene where they share a kiss, and later on the Death Forge, if you went dark side, he goes there and tries to use "the power of love" to redeem you.
With Juhani? zero flirtation, just 1 single VERY MILD one if playing female, and small subtext but nothing implicit said. After you discover you are Revan, Juhani (Who is a MASSIVE revan fangirl) will approach you (only if you haven't romanced carth) will reveal that she has a crush on you, you can choose to brush her off, or reciprocate, and while both acknowledge mutual attraction, they don't move forward from there. They both go for "I love you, you love me, but us is something that can never be, kthxbye"
And then its NEVER discussed or adressed ever again. Unlike Basthila and Carth (Who's romances bear a relation with the plot, being used to rescue someone from the dark side, or sink deeper into it) Juhani's short confession never comes up again, revan never mentions it again, and it bears no importance to the plot at all. They don't have a kiss cutscene, nor a happy epiloge, nor is this romance used to rescue or sink anyone in the light/dark side, nor anything.
They simply acknowledge mutual attraction, admit that a relationship is impossible, and drop the issue forever.
So yes, its incomplete man :P This was meant to be a full-on Romance with heavy ramifications to the plot, and as much investment as the other 2 were. That it was reduced to simple subtext and 1 mild conversation was due to LucasArts meddling.

Well even the Carth romance is reduced to nothing, since most of the universe is meant to show Male Revan matched with Bast. Yes, Juhani had stuff cut out(which seems to happen a lot) but there was an ending to, and it was only available to the female Revan; male could not get a romance going with her.

The carth romance isn't considered canon because later works stated that Revan was canonically Male, and hooked up with Basthila (Later, the protagonist of KOTOR 2 was established as canonically Female)
but in the actual game, it was developed as much as Basthila's romance.
But my initial point stands:
They dind't bothered with polishing the Cathar models (a race that was developed specifically for this game) because LucasArts forbade Bioware from finishing the Juhani romance (come on man, u gotta admit that was a band-aid ending at best, they placed it in there because the real relationship was never able to be coded.)
On SWTOR the cathar look a lot better.

/shrug It was a better ending then what most got in KotOR II.....But it was mainly in response to what you linked heh...also, as seen in other works from the expanded universe, Cathar actually have two female versions; the ones like Juhani and then the more fanservice Cat Women.

Kotor II was even worst, if we think about it, that game had no real romance at all for anyone, male or female. (Unless you count the Stalking of Visas Marr as romance)
also, as seen in other works from the expanded universe, Cathar actually have two female versions; the ones like Juhani and then the more fanservice Cat Women.
That's as TVtropes would put it, their "Author's saving throw" to explain why are there 2 completely different models of Cathar. Because juhani REALLY doesn't look like the rest of her species.
I mean, compare this

To this

Hey I know man...but a few of the comics have had Cathar's who look like Juhani to show that saving throw or not, it's part of the racial canon.

Can't say I agree with it =/
For a starts Renegade replies aren't necesarily evil. When the turian councilor says that we humans have a saying "even a broken clock gives the right time twice a day" the renegade response is "here's another saying "Go to hell". I don't really think that's an evil response.
and secondly........ I liked DA2 =( and I specially loved the smartass/sarcastic responses. If anything, I think DA2 had it better when it comes to picking dialog, because they have it like this:
Polite
Sarcastic
Jerk
While ME1 and 2 had it like this:
Polite
Neutral and completely boring and devoid of personality.
Sometimes racist, other times sarcastic, other times full on sociopathic.
I would had loved if there was a way to separate the bigotry and sociopathic parts of being renegade, while still preserving what makes that path awesome (such as the snarky irreverent responses)
And using Intimidate (Red lines) doesn't necesarily means a negative response.
this
doesn't sound very negative or evil.
(Good god how I love the voice-acting of Jennifer Hale =D)

Rankk, in meme images, it is quite common to exaggerate things to the point when some people get trolled by them. I liked DA2 as well. And I know Renegade in ME is not actually "evil", but more like "ruthless/unscrupulous".
The point of the image is actually somewhere along the lines of "enough of the Skyrim jokes, Mass Effect 3 is coming".

Ohh and I just had an epiphany.
You know that "leaked" ending (The one who's veracity I've questioned ENTIRELY since it was spawned?)
I just realized something.
If it was true, if there really was no way at all to save the normandy REGARDLESS of what you do........ and all your crew was stranded with no way to help them at all........... then how the hell would we be able to play DLCs? They've confirmed that the game will be playable post-ending like ME2 was, and that there will even be a playable epilogue too.
If at the end of the game we're meant to lose the normandy and the crew without being able to stop it, that would made it impossible to do any future DLC content.
So that leak either is a fake, or is a part of the "bad" ending much like shepard's second death on ME2, which was one out of MANY outcomes
Just though it felt worth being mentioned. Along with this quote of Casey Hudson, lead developer of the game:
"And so all the different things that you do, if you do a little side quest, or you go off and do a major plot, these things contribute to the war effort. If you just rip straight down the critical path and try and finish the game as soon as you can, and do very little optional or side stuff, then you can finish the game,"
"You can have some kind of ending and victory, but it’ll be a lot more brutal and minimal relative to if you do a lot of stuff. If you really build a lot of stuff and bring people to your side and rally the entire galaxy around you, and you come into the end game with that, then
you’ll get an amazing, very definitive ending
."
Just felt it was worth mentioning this.

nah, I'll just wait it out.
I've done it before, had to do it for Deus Ex Human Revolutions....... and ME1, and ME2, and Dragon Age 1, and Dragon Age 2, and........ if we think about it, every game released in the past 7 years U_U
Its IS ok to talk about the plot of the game in this thread though, I've asked everyone who posts here to keep spoilers at min and hide them under the tags while the game isn't released, but post-release its A-ok to talk about any spoilers you want on detail.
I'll just avoid this thread till I can get my hands on the game, and finish it. Just like I did with Skyrim.
So by all means, everyone is free to post their opinions on the plot, and what desicions you've all made in the game AFTER IT IS RELEASED. Just have a small courtesy of giving a short warning :P but spoiler tags wont be needed.

OHHH JO JO JO JO =D this is awesome XD
Guys u gotta watch this video...... HOWEVER I gotta point out that the vid (lasts 1 min) contains some mild spoilers regarding a minor character on ME1 and ME2. If you are curious as to what exactly you can do to certain ANNOYING REPORTER that showed up on both games during your third confrontation, well
Here
it is.
I'll understand if you guys wanna watch that later after playing the game, but a friend of mine told me it was worth watching and you know what? IT TOTALLY IS xD. She's a very minor joke character anyways, so a spoiler regarding her isn't really that big a deal. And the video is SO FULL OF WIN, I can't wait to do that in the actual game.

and you should :P because aparenly, to get the absolutely BEST ending you need to achieve a 100% story completion.
Declining to do the optional content will result in a rather underwhelming and lacking ending. This is one game that will require heavy doses of time to achieve the ultimate best results. Either by doing all the gazillion side-quests or play the multiplayer to death to raise your "War Readiness" in the maingame

Luckily, I was a completionist in my first 2 games- all planets explored, all side quests done, etc. I should be all set.

same here. I didn't had much motivation to be a completionist on ME1 (the plot was awesome, the music was awesome, the cutscenes were VERY awesome, voice-acting top notch, characters were incredible, but the actual gameplay was boring as frick, and the side-quests were WAAAY too repetitive and unremarkable) but on ME2 I played that game to death
Multiple times :P all DLCs completed, all sidequests done, all planets scaned explored and harvested, all sidequests done, everything that could be done was done.
And I'll do nothing less than that in ME3.

So your saying i should set aside every single game i have yet to play in order to get the most of this game?
Sounds like a splendid way to spend my spring break.

Sorta :P
Before you do the final mission of the game, your "War Efforts" metter needs to be all the way to the max if you want to have the absolutely best ending possible. To max that meter you must either complete every single main quest and sidequest, (in other words 100% game completion) or spend significant time playing the Multiplayer Co-op missions. Either works to gain the max Readiness rating)
