Yummy Free DLC- I is so happy.
o_O they've confirmed its gonna be free? u sure? where where?
Edit: nvm I've read the link.
=/ not entirely satisfied with their answer, since its not gonna be a new ending at all bur rather, the DLC will expand on the existing endings. The problem is that the existing endings suck, and even if the DLC provides more clarification it will still suck.

which is why its so imperative you play both games before the third. If you don't import a savefile, things will go rotten, real fast, real often. It doesn't get any better if you side with the other guys on that particular mission.
You know you can avoid that, right?
not if he doesn't import a save from the 2 previous games, that one is INDISPENSABLE. Its not the only requisite though you also need to have a maxed out reputation bar (either paragon, or renegade, doesn't matter) and always advocate for truce between both sides in all conversations, not to mention that you HAVE to rescue Zaal'korris.
Fail to do one (or all) of these and its impossible to avoid the bad solution to the rannoch campaign.

Yea, just didn't feel like it was the way I would do it. Wouldn't reload a save just to go back and change it, kind of happy a game has effected me emotionally.

Yeah- so much of the bad stuff is avoidable with the right import.
We TOLD you to play the other two first.
I mean you can prevent it without sacrificing anyone. If you import the save, and play a completist game, you can save everyone. You can back the geth and let them evolve, and still talk down the quarians so they don't get destroyed.

Well my options are either pirate the games right now or get them in a couple of weeks. Won't be able to play anyway so I'm waiting.

its very possible you didn't do anything wrong, but playing ME3 without importing a save from the previous games, WILL make you get the bad outcome on that mission. The import is INDISPENSABLE.
ME3 is just not the same if not played as a sequel to ME1 and 2.

I think it's possible to download a savefile if you don't have the money or the time to play the first two games. It won't be the same, but at least you can decide what you would have done in the earlier games.
Spoiler tag for safety, since Lombax hasn't played ME1 and 2:
Saving the Council or not, letting Wrex die or not, re-writing the heretic Geth or destroying them, making it through the Suicide Mission and with which squadmates etc.. Every variety of every single outcome can be found in various savefiles available for download across the web - it'll significantly improve the experience, in my opinion, even if you didn't get to play all of it yourself.

=/ The Extended Cut, isn't gonna add any new ending, or change the crappy ones we got. At best we can expect more explanation (as they are now, the endings leave too many threads hanging, too many loose ends, and more questions than answers) and more clear cinematics that in a more specific way explain to us just what the hell happened, but the endings themselves are gonna stick.
Not amused
Though I guess it could be worst, they could had left the endings intact like so many other companies before Bioware has done (Such as Valve with Half-Life and Ion Storm/Eidos with Deus Ex, or Konami with Metal Gear Solid 2) or they could had chosen to charge money for the DLC (Which would had destroyed any good faith their fans would had have, since it would had confirmed that nasty rumor)
The fact that the DLC is free, is a pretty big act of good faith on their behalf, since as owners of the franchise, they don't really
HAVE
to give into any fan demands, much like George Lucas doesn't HAVE to budge to the many fans and former fans that spasm out whenever he butchers his own franchise. So, they don't HAVE to do it, and yet they do it anyways, free of charge, to try and please their fans. That's a pretty big act of good faith and even if its a step I didn't liked (The crappy endings are staying) I still appreciate the effort.
This also disproves that rumor that the reason we got such horrible endings was EA pressuring Bioware to release a horrible ending on purpose, so they could then release a DLC with a better ending and charge for it. IF that had been the truth, its pretty safe to say bioware would had lost a pretty big chunk of its fans. But that wasn't the case. The DLC is free, and its not gonna add any new ending, nor change the old ones. Its simply gonna give answers and that's that.
So there it is. The Good (its free) the Bad (won't change the crappy ones) and the Ugly (no more future DLCs related to the endings will be released)
There's also the fact that this means the "indoctrination theory" is out the window. These events depicted at the ending (complete with logic flaws, and plot holes) happened, and that's that. Shepard was not indoctrinated, this happened for real and its the very anti-climmatic end of a 5 year franchise.
/sad-face
AngryJoe did a brief summary of it
here
and I gotta say I agree with him word for word. =/ I apreciate the effort made by bioware (I really do) since they're doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, I apreciate even more that its gonna be free, but sadly, their initiative isn't gonna change anything since everything that ruined the ending is staying.
namely:
God-child stays, BS explanation on the reapers stays, multi-colored explosions stays, Normandy leaving for no reason and crashing on mistery planet X stats, squadmates that were on earth and now suddenly are on the normandy stay, SHEPARD DEAD STAYS, victory fleet stranded on earth stays, relay network destroyed stays, and so on and so forth

FREE DLC IS HERE. So far I only got 1 of the new characters... the
Geth Infiltrator
. And let me tell you, holy crap that thing is actually best with a shotgun and played exactly like the enemy Geth Hunters. Stealth, creep up to enemies, kill from point blank. The special vision passive buff that you can turn on is extremely powerful and buffs the damage of the Geth Shotgun into ridiculous levels.
I really want to get the Krogan Vanguard though. That. Skill set. Oh my god. He has Carnage. I could combo that with fire ammo and actually do Tech explosions as a Vanguard lolol.
And the new maps... one is delicious, the other one... not so much. I do not like maps that are really bad for sniping.

There is an enemy in the game called "Brutes". They are Krogan Husks. Just like their living Krogan counterparts, they have an attack called "Charge" in which they charge at you like a bull, dealing massive damage on higher difficulties.
There is an achievement called "Eye of the Storm" for killing a brute WHILE its charging at you.
Last night I got that achievement on Insanity. As a Vanguard, by killing a brute that was charging at me............ by using Biotic Charge.
it was
AWESOME!
<3 this game.

Brutes are Krogan/Turian hybrids.

Oh yeah. I wanted to post that too earlier but seems like I forgot.
These last days I had such awesome time in the ME3 multiplayer. I started doing Gold difficulty runs, and let me tell you, they are HARD as hell. Basically, Vanguard is not viable. Going out of cover? Not really viable. You stick to a camp with your entire team, and you defend that position from a MASSIVE HORDE of enemies. Characters with the ability to distract enemies are
kings
. That means: engineers with their summonable thingies. Mostly salarians with Decoy, those are the best. And you absolutely need an Infiltrator, for doing the objectives where you have to activate 4 items. The mobility that objective requires of your group is just insane for Gold, given the amount of enemies that spawn. It is nice to also have a biotic who is good at biotic explosions. That way you can go: engineers to distract and strip shields, biotics to set off explosions, infiltrator for objectives and heavy damage duty (geth primes are not gonna kill themselves). Oh and yeah, Gold difficulty matches are almost exclusively played against the Geth faction. I think it is because Reapers ramp the difficulty up WAY too much with how a Banshee and Brute are able to push you out of cover, and Geth are the only faction without "instant kill" units (units that are capable of moves that instantly kill and bleed out someone from your team. Banshees, Brutes, Atlases and Phantoms have such moves.). Also Geth are hackable, and I hear Quarian Infiltrators are super OP in Geth Gold runs, but I have never seen one so far, and I didn't feel like playing mine.
I also play lower than gold difficulty, because... well, gold is just too limitting. You can not do fun things in it if you want to win. My best game ever has been with two guys that were using the ingame voice comm, and after one succesful gold run, they were like: "You know what time it is?" and the other one said: "Krogan time!" and they both switched to Krogan, and then so did I and the fourth guy, and we did two Krogan-only runs on Silver difficulty. That was so amusing. Like 90% of all kills were melee. It was fun to just surround an Atlas and beat him to a pulp lol. And while playing that, the two guys were bantering about how amazing the Krogan are and it was funny as hell.
I also introduced Lookout, which is a buddy from the Druid forums, into the multiplayer. And we are having fun with it.
