I'll see what I can do, having no source of income and solely relying on my parents is tough. As well as not having Internet.
ufff, I feel your pain man, I really do.
If you absolutely must, then at the very least get Lair of Shadow Broker and Arrival. Those 2 bridge the gap between the ending of ME2 and the start of ME3.
I'm wondering how can you post here without internet though.
I've heard about the terrible ME3 ending, but if I can't get the DLC I'll just stick to YouTube. It's better than not knowing at all, right?
well, since its the ending, I guess that's one way to have a solution. Not the most ideal though, try to have a friend download the free DLC and pass it to you on a DVD or something?
Being able to use biotics does seem fun. I'll stick to soldier for the first game and probably change for the next one.
That's exactly what I did, I was Soldier on 1, and then Vanguard on 2 and 3. Having said that, I can't really recommend one class over another in 2 and 3, since all 6 are pretty fun.
I can give you a brief summary of what each class is like on 2 and 3.
Soldier: They lack biotic powers, or advanced gadgets like the others, but they make up for it by being the one class that can use all 5 weapon types at the same time (Snipers, Assault Rifles, Shotguns, Pistols, and SMGs). They also have access to Bullet-Time (you know, slow down time, but you keep moving at the same speed) and can use all ammunition types (Cryo-ammo, Pyro-ammo, Armor-piercing, ect).
Engineer: Can only use SMGs and Pistols, but can also summon drones to attack and stun enemies, they also have a ton of debuffs they can inflict, and can burn down enemy barriers and shields with their hacking capacity.
Adept: Biotic masters, can only use SMG and pistol, but they get a ton of telekinetic powers including pull, push, shockwave, and their unique ability: Singularity.
Vanguard: By far my favorite class (even though they're HARD to master, specially on higher difficulties). They are the closest to a melee class on this game. They use SMGs, pistols, and mainly shotguns, paired with limited biotic potential. While their biotic power isn't as strong as the Adept, they make up for it with raw firepower and resillience, their unique ability is Biotic Charge, a move that lets you ram yourself at the enemy at high speeds, knocking them back and auto-reloading your shields. Once fully upgraded this thing will allow you to ricochet through the battlefield, allowing you to pump buckshot rounds at point blank, then retreat to a safer spot.
Infiltrator: My second favorite, mixture of engineer and soldier, they use snipers mostly though they can use SMGs and pistols too, and their unique power is to cloak themselves becoming invisible. Your HP and shields wont regen while invisible, but you can pop the power, headshot an enemy, then get back into cover. Plus they get a slow-down bullet-time like effect when aiming with their sniper rifles, allowing those awesome headshots for massive damage.
Sentinel: Tank class. Can only use SMG and pistol, Have a unique ability that lets them soak insane amounts of damage, and usually serve as meatshields. They're IMO the most boring class on 2 and 3, but unlike the first game, they're not "useless-boring" its just that they're "overshadowed-by-much-more-awesome-classes" boring.

My grandmother got me a smart phone for my b-day/x-mas gift. I use it to connect to the Internet. It's why some of my posts look loopy because it will change some words. (It likes to change of and if a lot because of my ginormous thumbs.)
And I thought about that. I have several friends that play it. The problem is meeting up with them. The closest friend lived about 20 miles away.
But I'll probably pick between vanguard and engineer. Something about that omni tool seems awesome.

Well, I finished Dishonored.
HOLY CRAP THAT WAS A GREAT GAME!
It was brutally hard to pull it off (Specially since I played in the second-hardest difficulty) but I managed to get an almost full no-kill/no-detection Ghost Run.
In the entire game I only ever killed 5 people.
Weeper that caught me offguard on the pedtletton twins mission, Strider guarding the panic room of Regent Lord Burrows, The Executioner/Royal Torturer of Regent Lord Burros, the actual Regent Lord Burrows, and Granny Rags
and I was only detected twice in the entire game. Once on the mission to take out Burrows (as I confronted him directly) and two an indirect detection, since on the mission to take out Campbell one of the guards found an Overseer I had knocked out unconscious.
On the gameplay side, I gotta say this game is nothing but brilliance, its essentially what Dark Messiah (another game by the same company that made Dishonored several years ago) SHOULD had been. Love the stealth component, the spells are awesome, and the animations for the fights are really cool. Specially that Balisol Sword you have that can be folded into the hilt.
If there is one complaint that I have is that there is no way to peacefully knockout non-lethally the Tallboy Striders. You HAVE to kill them, or evade them. Not cool. When playing stealth games I don't like to leave enemies loose, I either kill them all, or neutralize them peacefully all.
Deus Ex, Splinter Cell, Metal Gear, Thief, Hitman, Assassin's Creed, and Tenchu are all Stealth games that I've played before, and ALL OF THEM had ways to take out targets without killing them. Well, its harder on Assassin's Creed, but to my memory, there are no enemy types immune to being knocked out, and this is one particular stealth game that will never penalize you for killing.
So its a little jarring that a stealth game as good as Dishonored would have an enemy unit that simply put, cannot be dealt with at all non-lethally, when this is a game that very severely punishes you for killing enemies. I will try to see if someone has made a mod that allows tranquilizer darts to be used on the Tallboys.
One thing that I did felt was a bit of a shame, is that you have SO MANY cool gadgets, weapons, and powers that make for some truly awesome and creative ways to dispatch your enemies, yet unless you want an abysmally depressive bittersweet dark ending, you WILL have to abstain from using them.
I wouldn't mind if the game offered just as many gadgets to make non-lethal takeouts just as fun, but sadly it does not. All you have is the tranq darts, and chokeholds. That's it. And you can't even upgrade how many darts you can take per mission. So that's 10 tranq darts, and then just chokeholds. Have fun.
=/
If there's one improvement I'd made for any future sequels is adding more ways to take out enemies non-lethally. Gas Grenades, Stun prods, or even change the sword, so that instead of double-edged, its sharp on one side, and blunt on the other, thus you decide if you wanna slice people with it, or just beat up people with it.
Finally, I had SO MUCH FUN on the mission to take out Burrows. OMG. I was like the ultimate Troll on that one. Full on Psychological War. By the time I actually got to him, he was a blabbering madman.
Here's how:
First, take out every guard on the outside nonlethally, without raising any alarms, and obviously not getting seen. Then infiltrate the mansion and do the same, clear every floor, knocking out non-lethally all the guards and servants, THEN go to the rooftop and do the same, (here is where I had to kill that Tallboy because they can't be taken out non-lethally).
Once every single guard on the premises is neutralized, go to the room of Burrows, freeze time, open his safe, and rob him of his dirty incriminatory evidence. Get out of the room, unfreeze time, and patiently wait for him to see that his safe is open. He will panic, will know there's an intruder in the house, will call the guards ,but none will come.
He steps out, sees them all knocked out, panic rising, he runs to his safe room. Meanwhile I slowly walk to the roof, taking my time, knowing he's not going anywhere, allowing him to think he is safe. Once I'm at his panic room, I casually disable his defences, and enter his supposedly impregnable room.
He's scared to death by this point, he yells and demands to know who am I and why I torment him so. I reveal myself to him, he sees I'm Corvo, the man he betrayed, and ruined. In a fit of desperate rage he tries to attack me, but I quickly shoot him with a tranquilizer dart. Just death isn't good enough for him.
I walk to the broadcast tower, carrying with me his audio-recording where he confesses all his crimes, and I broadcast this confession to everyone in the empire. By the time the recording is over, he has woken up, and trying to leave the mansion, but his own guards wont let him. Reinforcements have arrived, but rather than be his so much wanted calvary, they all turn on him when they see HE was the one who started the plague.
They place him under arrest, and THEN I strike, now that he's publicly humilliated, mentally broken, and on the brink of despair, I tranq both of his guards who were escorting him to prison. In his utter horror (he's blabbering like a madman now) he runs to his last hope, his last bastion, the one shred of hope he has left, his Royal Interrogator, a leviathan of a man, with Outsider-touched powers of his own. I let him go there. I once more let him feel for a few moments that he's safe, so that I may prove just how wrong he is.
Once I catch him up on the room with his strongest bodyguard, he cowers behind him, and sends him to kill me. Only for me to freeze time, pump 4 pointblank headshots, then unfreeze time. At this point he's completely broken, and THEN I finish him off with a quick slice of my blade.
The End.
:P
And then that plot-twist had to sour my victory T_T

Assassin's Creed 4 is announced for October release.
Set 60 years before AC3, you play as a pirate. Seems like it will have lots of naval battles. Hopefully there will be more, I'm not a big fan of the naval missions I had to do.

aww man. I was hoping they'd do for connor what they did for ezio.
Ezio had more than 3 games that greatly developed his story, but connor only gets one and suddenly he gets shafted for a new protagonist.
Also, I just got AC3 and Dragonborn DLC for Skyrim.
12 hours before patch 5.2 comes live. Go figure.

Yeah, they might do more. You play as Edward Kenway, who is probably Conner's great grandfather or uncle or something.
But since you haven't beat AC3 yet I don't wanna spoil the ending for you.
What was sad is a lot of people hated Conner, but it seems they didn't understand him. They complained about the voice actor and how he was so stiff, but that's how the Native Americans were. They didn't really show emotion, and English was a second language for Conner. He only learned it by reading his father's journal. He would have to think about what he was saying.

I can relate to that. Back when I was still a newbie at english, when speaking english I sounded like a robot, because its really hard to convey your emotions when all you're trying to do is make people understand what you're saying. Today I've improved a lot, but that's been years of practice, I imagine that for someone who isn't that experienced in english they'd HAVE to sound stiff or else it'd be unrealistic.

Lol, :P ok. Someone already spoiled me a certain plot twist about AC3, but since she didn't meant to do it, I forgive her, it wasn't intentional.

Anyone here play Fallout? I just finished the New Vegas campaign, and now I'm going to start some of the DLC. I just purchased Dead Money, and it's looking interesting. Too bad I saved after my decision to join the NCR on my main character. Now I'm going to have to do it on my Legion one =/

I totally agree with you on the lack of options for non-lethal playthroughs in Dishonored, Rank. I didn't complete Dishonored yet though, so I'm not gonna discuss story much.
I really don't mind that the new AC abandons Connor. In comparison to Ezio, he is about as amusing as a brick. I don't care about authenticity of the character, I care about his charisma. Do I find the hero appealing and fun to play? Well, in both cases the answer is -yes-, because playing any character with the assassin's skillset and combat engine is fun as hell, but story-wise, Ezio was grand, and Connor is not.
I am just a little sorry that the new AC is so closely related to AC3, with the naval combats and all. I was really curious when they said they would love to do an AC set in Russia. How cool would that be? Playing a cossack assassin. On the other hand though, they made the most badass naval combat simulation that I played so far, would be a pity if AC3 was the only game where it shined.

The New Vegas DLC's are some of the best DLC's out there. If I had to rank them from best to... not the best (I can't say worst, because none of them is bad really.), it would be Old World Blues > Dead Money > Lonesome road = Honest Hearts. Honest Hearts btw, even though it's one of the weaker ones, has the most badass novel hidden within it, on computer logs and such.

Aye, having so many awesome weapons, yet none of them being non-lethal was annoying. Even more so being unable to carry more than 10 tranq darts per mission. Like I said, I hope future sequels (and I expect sequels, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this setting, its very refreshing and original) add more non-lethal options.
Gas Grenades, Stun Prods, have your sword get a blunt side so you can hit people with it (with a hit to the head done from behind undetected meaning an instant knockout) and some non-lethal powers as well such as telekinetic choke ("Luke I am your father" >=D) ect.
I didn't complete Dishonored yet though, so I'm not gonna discuss story much.
Well, once you finish it, you HAVE to play it again on the total opposite of how you first played it, if there's a game that ABSOLUTELY ENCOURAGES a second playthrough, is this one. Its just stunning how VASTLY DIFFERENT the game feels like when doing a low-chaos and high-chaos play, and the plot, the guards, the characters, your friends, your enemies, and even the environment are WAY different when playing as evil or good.
The final mission alone is about 80% different depending on your chaos.

Ya but rather than just abandon the character they could had worked on him more. Altair was boring as frick on the first game, a total stiff with zero emotions (though his speech to Al Mualim was pretty awesome) and yet look, they expanded him greatly on AC2, Brotherhood, and specially Revelations.
Connor could had been greatly developed by having him get his own spinoff trilogy like Ezio did.

Ohh yes, Angry Joe (I really love that show) highly praised the naval combat on AC3, and its one of the things I'm most eager to try out. I only started AC3 yesterday, and since 5.2 goes live today, I probably won't be playing it much for the next 3 or 4 days :P but once the wow fever dies down a little bit, I'm intending to sink my teeth in.
here is a non-spoiler question: Are you allowed in AC3 to recruit and train your own band of assassin trainees like in brotherhood and revelations? if not that's gonna be a dissapointment. I took great pleasure in recruiting, training, and equipping my own army of little ninjas.
Speaking of Ninjas: Assassins Creed set in feudal japan would be A BLAST.

You get to recruit assassins, but you don't really get to send them on missions. There are a few that you automatically get during the story line, one is an angry French chef that hates the red coats. And you can go about recruiting more, but I didn't really bother with that.
And the reason you don't really send them on mission is because at this point in history, there are hardly any assassins left in the brotherhood. At first it's just Connor and his master.
What I really like are the frontier missions. You get to expand your own little village, growing it from the ground up. Doing just that and the story I put around 20 hours of gameplay.
Speaking of Ninjas: Assassins Creed set in feudal japan would be A BLAST.
I think I read somewhere that they won't be doing one in that era. Since it is one if those eras that gets used a lot in games, mainly the Dynasty Warrior games. It's why they chose the American Revolution because not many games have used that time period, if any.
But one of the creators/designers/someone important said they were interested in doing a game located in India. Haven't read anything about one in Russia, but it's a possibility.

I don't think I'll be able to force myself to replay Dishonored in an evil way. Currently I am playing 100% stealthy and non-lethal, I just like to play good guy all the time. I even felt like I am forcing myself when I tried to do a renegade playthrough of ME2, even though Renegade is technically not that evil.
By the way, one of the best things about Dishonored plot hands down is the
suspicion that Corvo is Emily's father
Btw, you have to admit, what Dishonored lacks in dispatching options for the stealthy characters, it makes up for with the level design, that puts stealth playthroughs into great focus and makes them quite satisfying. It felt like playing Metal Gear or Deus Ex:HR with all the clever alterate routes and such.

The way I see it, making a spinoff trilogy on Ezio was a guaranteed profit, while making one on Connor is not.

Man, Angry Joe was the first thing I thought of when I saw the trailer for AC4. He wanted a good pirate game so hard, and all the pirate games that came out last year disappointed him, and then he was so happy about the naval combat of AC3, and now boom, he gets a pirate themed AC sequel. I bet he will be all over it.
Yes, you can have recruits in AC3. Send them on missions almost exactly like in Revelations too. It is a slightly improved system.
I would prefer Russia over Japan, but sure that would work as well. The only risk I can see in both games is that the accents would probably get annoying very fast. (but nothing can beat the most annoying accent in the universe of gaming... the Orlaisian accent from Dragon Age).
The games I played the most recently are
Heroes of Might and Magic 6
and
Far Cry 3
.
I love the HOMAM series, played all of them except for 5, and 6, even though it took me a while to really get used to it, is totally awesome. The best thing for me is how I found out about Might heroes. Basically, you can either have a Might hero or a Magic hero, and Magic heroes have a ton of interesting spells including protections, heals, damaging spells and such. In comparison, Might heroes just have a few special battle commands and shouts and quite a lot of passive bonuses. At first I thought Magic heroes were strongly OP and that Might heroes sucked and were not even worth playing, but now? Holy *!@#, Might heroes are the best stuff. The biggest balancing thing about them is that your "Might Power" stat scales up the damage of all your units that use "Might Power" attacks, which is a majority of them.
In practice: A Magic hero with 100 orcs could use them to one-shot 20 sharkmen, but a Might hero with 100 orcs could easilly make them kill 50 sharkmen with a single strike. The additional power for units is just awesome. The best thing about it is that I don't think might heroes are OP. They are just about as good as the Magic heroes, and I really like that.
In Far Cry 3, I am done with like 80% of story missions, and it's just such an immensely stellar game, sheesh. I will write more on it later, but for nows I can show some tasty screenshots. Beware,
the screenshots contain
spoilers
. And boobies. You should probably be aware of that too. NSFW and such.

Yeah guess I missed that. I tried to recruit one assassin, but the game bugged out and the guy wasn't where the marker is. So I didnt bother to try it anymore.
But there is a lot of little things to do, such as managing your goods and all that. So unless you're going for 100% completion, it's a little to much imo.
And you missed our discussion of Dishonored a few weeks ago. We both agreed that maps could be better, maybe open world or at least have more of them.
And I would love a sequel, or maybe a prequel.

And you missed our discussion of Dishonored a few weeks ago. We both agreed that maps could be better, maybe open world or at least have more of them.
I read that, and I would disagree. Firstly, I think it is not reasonable to give bad credit to a game for doing what it was designed to do. Dishonored was meant to be a game with limitted levels. It was not meant to be a full out sandbox. Then judge it as a game with limitted levels, not as a sandbox.
There are many design aspects that need to be taken into consideration when making a sandbox game, like the likelihood of players missing out on large chunks of content. While the makers od Dishonored did want to make a game that would not be completely linear, they still, on some occasions, want to funnel each and every player through some particular area that is important for storytelling. And that is ridiculously hard to achieve in a game that takes place in an urban environment. Look at Skyrim in comparison. Skyrim is an open world, but are the dungeons open world? Do Skyrims dungeons offer any sort of freedom? No, they actually don't. Skyrim is an open world with a lot of funnels that send you into strictly linear instances. That way, the crucial storytelling of Skyrim can make itself pretty unmissable. You can not miss the room with the bandit in webs in Bleak Falls Barrow.
The problem is, this sort of pseudo-linear content within a sandboxy game is way easier to do in a game with tons of caves, where the only ways are "to the bottom of the cave" and "back up", than in a city scenario
where your hero is an acrobat and able to blink
. Creating instanced linear levels within an open city would just feel odd, or would have to be limitting to your movement. So personally, I think it is better when Dishonored has the kind of levels that it has, cleverly designed to make you use all the quirky movement abilities that your hero has.
Post by
Nathanyal
I didn't mean make it a sand box game, just add more to what we had. I know lots of people like to explore their environment, but in Dishonored there wasn't much to explore after the first couple of missions.

Well duh, I also play good almost all the time (unless its a vampire game, when I roleplay a vampire I'm AS EVIL AS I CAN POSSIBLY BE, POWWAAAAAAAAAAAHH UNLIIIIIIIIIIMITTEEEEE POOWAAAAHHHHHHHHH!)
But seriously bro' you're missing out TREMENDOUSLY if you don't do a high-chaos play on Dishonored, the game is just so VASTLY different.
I'll give just a small very teeny teensy tiny example, which is not really a big spoiler since its a minor background event from the first mission (the one where you assassinate Campbell)
Low Chaos: Near the end of the level you find 3 Overseer Guards, one of them tells his 2 friends that he has the plague, and they need to kill him before he becomes a danger to his friends and comrades. The other two guards refuse, they even offer him their ration of elixirs to cure him, but he says he's past curing, that he's been coughing up blood lately. Very reluctantly his friends agree to release him of his suffering, and ask him to get on his knees and recite the 7 scriptures (their version of the 10 commandments).
As he does so, the other guard promises he'll take care of the sick guard's wife and child, and then they kill him quickly and painlessly, while crying for having to put down a beloved friend.
High-Chaos: Same level, same scene, same guards, except this time, the sick guard is actually trying to hide he's sick, his 2 companions confront him, tell him that he's endangering everyone, sick guy denies it, only to cough up more blood, the other 2 guards fly into a rage and butcher him in cold blood and then spit on his corpse.
This is just one VERY MINOR example of how the world changes depending on your chaos rating. Emily does too, on a low-chaos play, she's this cheerful bright, loving child. On a High-chaos route, she's this incredibly creepy sociopathic child. On low chaos she makes happy drawings about you, her mom, and pretty stuff. On high chaos she makes grim disturbing drawings of you on your mask butchering people, and demons, and stuff on fire.
the list of differences from low to high chaos is HUGE. This is really a game that DEMANDS a second playthrough.
By the way, one of the best things about Dishonored plot hands down is the
suspicion that Corvo is Emily's father
"suspicion"? :P dude its all but bluntly stated.
That maid on Hound Pits Pub suspects it, the letter written by the empress sounds more like one written for a lover than one for a friend, and one of Emily's drawings of corvo has the caption "Daddy" written on top of it.
While it was never confirmed, tis all but implied that's the case.
Also that heart you're using all the time?
all but directly stated to be the heart of the late empress
Btw, you have to admit, what Dishonored lacks in dispatching options for the stealthy characters, it makes up for with the level design, that puts stealth playthroughs into great focus and makes them quite satisfying. It felt like playing Metal Gear or Deus Ex:HR with all the clever alterate routes and such.
ohh hell yes, massive kudos to the level design team, I've never seen levels this well designed since Metal Gear or Deus Ex. Each mission has like EIGHT different routes you can take to complete your objectives.
I'll be honest with you, I've never been very happy with first person stealth games, I believe stealth has to be in third person, but Dishonored is one of those that made me believe First person Stealth can be done AWESOMELY.
The way I see it, making a spinoff trilogy on Ezio was a guaranteed profit, while making one on Connor is not.
still believe its a darned shame that they're dropping him so quickly.
Yup, in his review of Risen 2, he lamented how there's never been any real good Pirate game. (lately anyways, obviously he's never played Monkey Island. THE BEST (and probably only) pirate game out there.)
Yes, you can have recruits in AC3. Send them on missions almost exactly like in Revelations too. It is a slightly improved system.
yay =D
I would prefer Russia over Japan, but sure that would work as well. The only risk I can see in both games is that the accents would probably get annoying very fast. (but nothing can beat the most annoying accent in the universe of gaming... the Orlaisian accent from Dragon Age).
with the exception of Lelianna (Who actually used a real french voice-actress and thus had a less exaggerated accent) nobody on Dragon Age was using a realistic accent, they were pretty fake exaggerated frenchies. Its like the Gilneans in World of Warcraft. If that accent is authentic british accent, I'm a damned ballerina. And I for one loved the accent of Lelianna. Though you are correct in that the fake french used by the other orlessians was annoying. Specially the wife of Arl Eamon.

Truly FANTASTIC game, and one who has what I wildly consider THE BEST villain I've ever seen in years. Vaas Montenegro is simply fantastic. The guy is a monster, but he's also hilarious, he's also unpredictable, genuinely scary, and his voice actor NAILED the role down to a T.
However, as fun as Farcry 3 was, the second half of the game when you take on the privateers was somewhat less fun for me. Dunno why.
I didn't mean make it a sand box game, just add more to what we had. I know lots of people like to explore their environment, but in Dishonored there wasn't much to explore after the first couple of missions.
I think the main issue here is that you're not supposed to explore. Dishonored is a stealth game, and stealth games are not usually about exploring sprawling areas of open terrain. Stealth games involve you entering an enemy territory, doing stuff in there, and get out without anyone seeing you, or at least as few people seeing you as possible.
My issue with the levels in Dishonored was not in design, but in quantity, I would had loved it if the game was longer. For me it felt kinda short, but since a low-chaos/high-chaos playthrough is SO WILDLY OVERWHELMINGLY DIFFERENT, I was able to squeeze over 30 hours of gameplay on it, which for me, its more than enough to meet the minimum quota of fun for a game.
