I feel a bit of disappointment that you are forgetting the other guides for the other specs and the work that has gone into updating and maintaining them. If one spec guide should be stickied why not the other 3?

Yeah, this. In my humble opinion, the problem here is that the entire "let's not sticky anything and only have helpful threads" is a so-so solution. It helps when there is a class that has four completely different possible specs, and there are far too many enthusiasts for guides, for example... But i do not think it is a very friendly solution if our goal is
educating people
, rather than
keeping the forums tidy
. I believe we have all had plenty of experience with people that just didn't quite figure out that they have to look into helpful topics. People often resort to tunnel vision when looking for info. They are looking for the words "feral" and "tanking", or "balance" and "cataclysm" or whatever, and only check like ten top topics at best, and if nothing contains those exact keywords, they make a new clueless topic, we are not very happy about it, and drama may ensue. As i say, not the most elegant solution.
Anyway, I added Hibernate and Roots into Utility abilities. I am actually running out of character limit, but luckily I did get the second reserve right under. 90 thousand characters should always be enough, unless I would be in the mood to go all Satorri at it.

I can actually agree for your Balance guide curly, my enthusiastic support for
this
thread is simply because I play Feral (and also, to be fair, because of the extensive helpful and well written
commentary
to complement the factual data -- your Balance guide has this, but Alundrei's Cat and Tree guides are lacking in comparison).
I think guides like the various gear lists (which I love), and simple factual cookie-cutter info (specs, reforging priority, RSV) work pretty well in a Helpful Threads list... but in-depth, comprehensive, specific guides which are clearly written by people who live and breathe the spec (like yours and Thror's) probably belong as main page stickies.
No offense intended toward Alundrei -- I made extensive use of your tree guide, and in no way am I trying to say they are not valuable.
Also, isn't the proper Alamo-zation of Bear "BARE" ?

Greater than 26 days ago, I responded in a thread in Feedback about stickies where I suggested the sticky "zone" be collapsible. Apparently that's one implementation they're looking at. If they implement that, I'm sure there will be more room for stickies in a less thread-y way.

I support making quality, useful threads stickied. However, I'm a realist enough to recognize that the types of people who would read stickies would ALSO read at least the first 2-3 posts in the "Helpful Topics" thread. So I don't honestly believe having a crapwhack of (or any) stickies for the purpose of reducing the "Hey guys, how do I do this?" threads would be effective in the least.

A crapwhack, eh?

I'm more of the opinion that Spec specific guides should be stickied on the druid forums but other guides and supplemental information fall into the helpful threads sticky.
Also in true Druid Forums fashion we derailed a stickie!

Holy crap, you are right. Fix't.
edit:
Also added some info about Windwalk into enchants. Still considering using it myself, dunno.
edit2:
replaced stars on enchants with more fancy numberz. Also HOLY CRAP i have hit the character limit.

You are tempting me to rewrite and update my guide. It's been feeling small fora while now and after reading that you hit the post cap... mine is only ~39% used up. Though a good chunk of your guide goes into the various debates surrounding bears that Boomkins have been much more heavily theorized and number crunched on. Even so I've had some unfinished propose sections that I've slacked off a bit on getting prepped as well as an update to the formatting with all the new goodies.

Why didn't you split it across multiple posts? Anchor links work across posts as long as it's on the same page. If you're on another page, you just have to link to topic=1234
.p
#anchor where
p
is the page number.
EDIT
: And also, you're thinking that the non-movement portion of Windwalk is significant enough to be possibly better? You can't even consider the movement proc, obviously.

Reesi in her guide says that "Windwalk pulls ahead in heroic content". Since there is no further commentary about that, I kinda thinked about it, looked for any other possible sources (and found none, but this is pretty acceptable considering that some of the best Bear theorycrafters pretty much give output info to Reesi, and she publishes... or at least thats what it seems like from my simple point of view.) I have read the comments on the enchant, if it wouldn't offer some extra clues (It is important to note that it has no ICD for example.), but that didn't provide any definitive info either, so... what you can see in the guide is pretty much me getting output info, and trying to come up with a commentary that would explain why is the output info true. The only thing i came up with and that seemed logical is that once the bosses start swinging for a lot of damage, it is better, damage-reduction-wise, to just get more dodge instead of +130 agi.
Also, yeah i do intend to split the guide, and i know the anchors work even on two posts (although i didn't know about cross-page anchors) as soon as i come up with something new to add. Currently, when i was last updating the guide with the enchantment numbers, it said that i already exceeded the limit a bit. I just deleted a few words here and there, used shorter terms to describe some things and stuff, and it was fine.

You mean including a changelog as a part of the guide? Saw that in a few guides, but I don't think that is necessary. I will log the changes in the posts in this topic, so if anyone would be curious, he could still find out how I updated the guide, and it would be arranged chronologically and stuff, but i do not think many people will seek that info.
Also, I am glad I helped you.

Just revised the guide so it is updated for 4.2. Generally, there were no really big changes. The damage done by our abilities has been modified (base damage values raised, attack power scaling reduced), which will mean a small damage buff for Bears with low item level, and a small damage nerf for bears with high item level. The breaking point is somewhere at 359, so if you are right at that point, you might not notice a difference. The priority list is not affected, and neither are stats, or anything.
Agility is still the superior stat for mitigation setups, and Stamina for survivability setups. There will be numerous bears cutting through Firelands with both, so use what you (and your healers) are more comfortable with.
There are few more updates pending for the guide, but those will have to wait until I get some hands on experience on Firelands. Firstly, I will put a lot of tips into various places in the guide, mostly at the same places where you can already find tips now. Secondly, the trinket section will need info on new trinkets. I am also considering adding a new section about Tier set bonuses.

Single Target
For single target fights, we follow a priority rotation:
every time possible.
Incapacitating Roar
every time the debuff is not up.
when the enemy has no stacks of Lacerate up.
Thrash
every time possible.
when the enemy has less than 3 stacks of Lacerate up.
Pulverize
when the enemy has 3 stacks of Lacerate up and the Pulverize buff is not up, or when it is about to fall off.
or
Lawbringer Bracers
filler.
Believe should be the following:

Also by my count the OP has 44,000 characters in it. How the hell you broke the character per post limit I don't know but made finding and quoting the section in question hell that's for sure.

Hahahah. Premium members have the character limit extended to 45k. Also, thanks for that, silly mistake. I get carefull with picking the right ID and put in an item instead of a spell /facepalm.

Formatting
Separated guide into two posts, to expand the character limit from 45 thousand to 90 thousand. <insert maniacal laugh>
To add some more contrast, sprinkled the guide with a bit of green color.
Content
New section about Tier sets containing info on set bonuses.
Updated the Trinkets section. Possibly not the final version, but it is getting close.
New section in the "Additional Tips", explaining the Mastery/Expertise alternative gearing method.
Added Stampeding Roar into Utility abilities.
Increased overall compatibility with Firelands by approximately 114,33% (repeating of course). You might want to check various sections for small tips. Nothing too groundbreaking though I am afraid.
