Being sterile doesn't stop you from having sex/spreading STD's.

Except it wouldn't...at all; they could still share it through other means, and unless you intend to sterilize anyone who could ever be a carrier for the STD well...yeah. So long to the population of Earth; would be like AIDS as you deal with those infected but never actually get the original spreaders.

It wouldn't matter even if you sterilized everyone on earth! You don't spread the disease by being fertile, you spread the disease by engaging in certain sexual acts or sharing needles, or even blood out an open wound.
(Besides passing it on to children, I get that)
Again, I already discussed this with someone earlier in the thread.
It's still being discussed.

STD's can be spread whether or not you get people pregnant, which you seem to be missing.

This ^
Sterilization will do
nothing
for this. At all.
And if it's forced, you will have full scale riots on your hands.

You're looking at overall numbers though. If you reduce the amount of humans, then there will be less people on the Earth (duh). The thing is, there will still probably be the same
percent
of STDs around, meaning that it will impact the human race more.
Seems a little counter productive to me.

No I am not, but I understand the only sure option to stop STD spread that does effect sex that does not produce a child would be genocide, which I don't agree with. My idea would be a concession of while it would not stop the spread through sex for the current generation it would limit the impact of STD's for the future generation.
No, the only way to stop the spread is stop being stupid, stop trying to scare kids into doing stupid thing, stop venerating stupid stupid stupid $%^&*s, and actually teach real safe sex to kids: use a condom, get tested, if your infected stop having sex.
As unless you intend to feed every single person on Earth pills that kill the sex drive, you do nothing to stop the spread, as people who would be sterile would just bareback more.....which would spread the disease even farther.

This is the basic logic:
STD's might spread to our children!
Stop having children!
Problem solved.

The whole condom thing get's shoved down teens who aren't even thinking about sex. Like the other day a Planed Parenthood woman nearly jumped me and my girlfriend when I was walking her home. I think it's someones responsiblilty to make sure you don't get an STI, not everyone shoving condoms and facts down your throat.
That expression is truly a strange one to use for this application.

Yes it is the person who is engaging in sexual intercourse's responsibility and if shoving condom's and facts about STI's and unwanted prgnancies down people's throats at least brings it to their attention that this is indeed their responsibility.
People are always going to want to procreate with each other as it is a primal urge. The only way to try and stop the spread of any diseases that can be passed by this act is proper education of the risks and how to avoid them i.e. usage of condoms and dental dams for oral sex.
I recently heard a radio programme about the spread of STI's and especially HIV/AIDS during the 1980's where it was pointed out that
this
advert, and the associated leaflet, helped in combating the spread of STI's and not just HIV/AIDS to which it was primarily concerned.
edited as I couldn't find any further proof to my original statement

Not all
STI's
are bad, you know...
I wouldn't mind having a few.
