No, I didn't misunderstand. Just failed to word my post properly. That 'you' wasn't target at you, it was a general 'you.' I probably should have said 'one.'

I'm actually surprised to see people go great lengths to flame someone in 5-mans these days. Was doing randoms with my DK tank, to help a Disc priest friend get some points. Mind you, this is partly off-topic, because we are talking
normals
here, simply because he had leveled all through 1-85 as Shadow, and had only respecced Disc minutes before entering the dungeon, so he had very little knowledge, apart from reading up on Wowhead and a couple of tips from guildees. His gear were also extremely sub-par, being at level 310 or somesuch (I believe he said he had just passed to itemlevel requirement for the 85 dungeons, don't recall the requirement right now). Because of that, and the fact that this guy had about 5k gold on his priest, I told to him try buying something. With a couple of mats, and my tailor, and with some help from the AH, we got him a full
Bloodthirsty Embersilk
set, simply because it was so much better than what he already had. Sub-par, but
not
for normals, and
especially not
when the one he is healing is in 360 itemlevel gear, and a Death Knight on top of that.
We get HoO, and after the first pull, we are all at full hp, and our healer is sitting at about 80 % mana. Someone, a Rogue, immediately exclaims "Wow, you lose mana fast", and 1 minute later, while doing absolutely nothing to dps during the next pull, he writes, letter by letter: "OMFG, you aren't a healer. Noob, PVP #$%! Kick him."
He then proceeds to talk to another random hunter, and attempts to make him misdirect the healer so he dies. The hunter's only reply was "Sigh...". This is especially facepalm-worthy because of the whiner being a
Rogue
. He then begins ninja-pulling like crazy, taking good advantage of being Subtelty, and pretty much appears to keep Vanish on CD. We were going for a full run, which all but our rogue were completly fine with, so after the first 3 bosses (Anhurr, Ptah and the Gauntlet), he finally just stops up, and say's he refuses to continue if we don't kick the priest, or if he equips his "PvE set". My friend then turns out to have kept his previous set, and equips it, lossing almost 30k mana, just from what I could see, before asking "Better?". The rogue's reply? "Yes. Another time, don't be a noob". I was completely stunned at the ignorance and stupidity of his remarks. The sheer amount of intelligence he got from the PvP set far outweigthed anything his "PvE" set could ever have given from from the lost secondary stat, and we had absolutely no problems, whatsoever, even through his insane chain-pulling. Seconds later, a vote-kick against the Rogue pops up, and without too much hesitation, I agree. He gets kicked, and the Hunter speaks up "Get your real set on again. That set is pathetic."
His performance wasn't even bad. He were pulling 8k dps in a normal. That's actually quite good for normals. But his attitude were... Wow. He is right, PvP items < PvE items. That much is true. He had also neglected to reforge to some spirit, which he were sorely lacking. But when the difference in itemlevel is almost 50 itemlevels, the difference is simply too huge to pass up. He had bought a Rainsong, but had a simple mastery trinket with a spellpower proc in the second slot (Can't recall it's name). What's worse, none of us died. None. Zero deaths throughout the whole dungeon. Considering this is HoO, and it was his first time healing, that's pretty amazing. There is some serious surprises in that dungeon, and the AoE damage get's quite high sometimes. To make matters worse, he was a freshly dinged 85. He had never seen the place before, but only read about it here on Wowhead.
This is pretty much what I refered to earlier, about being too elitist. When you are so serious about using the "correct" gear, that even an obvious upgrade isn't good enough, it get's too much. Especially content that you grossly outgear. I had 178k hp with buffs, did he really believe i was below the heroic itemlevel treshold? Or did he simply not care?
I don't care much for how "quick" you want a dungeon to be. I don't care what criteria's you deem worthy of "insta-kick/leave group". If you truly believe a wrongly geared person will mean the group will fail, you are an idiot. But at least let me say: "Thank you" if you DO leave immediately. It gives us a chance to get a better player than you.

Actually if you're good Sub is viable. It has absolutely no margin of error and you're juggling at least four or five different short term buffs or debuffs at any given time, but if you can do that you can do perfectly acceptable DPS as Sub.

An enhancement shaman who pulled 1.8k DPS.
And died every boss fight.
EVERY boss fight. I died a little myself on the inside each time.

We have a paladin in our guild that does that.
It's gotten so bad a few of our healers made macro's like:
/target hisname
/cast ressname
You let someone this bad stay? Why not try to teach him how to prevent it from happening instead?
Or use the macro my RL uses.
/kick

I tested out just auto attacking with SoE and WF totem up on a boss dummy and I got 4.9k dps, or 5.6k with the 15% LFM buff. Having said that, the only way anyone can do that poorly is to stand around for a good portion of the boss fight and not do anything at all. Well, I guess dying to dumb stuff counts as doing
something.
There's an enh shaman on my server dual wielding daggers (1.4mh/1.8oh) with
Mending
on both of them </3
I do have to say, when I was new to Enhancement, I thought faster weapons was better too, because of WF actually. I had the idea that, faster attack speed = more procs = more damage. This is false, of course, especially with the other weapon damage attacks they have, but it's a fair mistake for someone who is new to the class/spec. Mending is a sorta weird buff to pay for, though... not exactly a dps enchant :/
Myself, I prefer the 2-hander Enhancement Shaman. Especially when they suddenly burst, in caps, "WHY CAN'T I EVER USE LAVA LASH!". And this is a guy from my own guild, no less. We refrained from saying anything before the loot pinata from Tol Barad was dead, and when this message showed up in the middle of the fight, I litterally fell off my chair laughing, and I wasn't alone. I had to tempoarily remove my headphones because of the static noise that came from so many people laughing, all at once, and that hard. It really pays to have a fun, social guild sometimes :P

I can't even count how many /facepalm worthy DPS encounters I've had, either in dungeons or raids, but the most common problem for me wasn't dealing with under-preforming DPS. It was the tanks who couldn't keep aggro worth a squat. I've been kicked for taking the aggro from the tank, even when I honestly wasn't trying to do anything but a whirlwind like 10 seconds after they pulled. One. Friggin. Whirlwind.
Half the time the healer (around my gear level or even higher) just told me to pull crap and he'd/she'd heal me through it (which they normally did), or they'd bark at me to stay single target. So I go single target and
still
pull aggro. I do one friggin' Bloodthirst and, god forbid, proc a Blood Surge and pop a slam, the big baddie would be coming after me.
You can imagine how much hell I (and many more) went through in the ICC 5m dungeons, especially in the last instance where Lady Sylvanas runs off to go deal with the LK while we're left with the nitwit twins. I can't even count how many times I died... /sigh

The shaman would spend the beginning of the fight casting a chain lightning (Even on single targets), then run up to the boss a couple seconds later. Without starting auto attacks. If the boss moved even a bit, it took the shaman at least 5 seconds to switch positions to start attacking again. The shaman would also periodically stop to cast random spells ranging from a lightning bolt to a healing surge... when at full health. It was... depressing.
I thought it may have been simple lag at first, but the shaman held a conversation in time with everyone else, so lag apparently wasn't an issue.
