Who would win in a fight: a Terran Ghost or a U.N.S.C. Spartan?

sure if you can get a hold of them, you can snap them in half.....but then of course, comes the oldest trick in a psychic's book: Make your opponent see someone else as you(check Old Man Logan for the most brutal version of that ever).
Aye, but would that fool a machine?
And I don't think physical capabilities are really that much of an advantage against a psychic;
Why not? If a Spartan can detect a Ghost before the Ghost can see them and then proceed to blow the crap out of their head with a single shot from a machine gun, that seems a little advantageous.
You're going by the fact that all Ghosts are as powerful as Kerrigan, whereas ingame a single Zealot could kill a Ghost, assuming they can get in close.
Now imagine that the Zealot not only is still shielded and strong, but is ranged.
Ghosts have no shielding, whereas Spartans do. I would imagine the shielding would block any psychic emissions along with any shots they may fire. Then the Spartan proceeds to kill the Ghost with whatever weapon they may be holding.

sorry, this is the upper to date one.
Theres the wiki page for his suit. I'm not going to read it but feel free to find anything that says anything regarding anti-psychic defenses.

Aye, but would that fool a machine?Spartans may be half cybernetic, but they still have human cores to them; opening for a weakness there.

And in game, if enough Grunts gang up on you, a Spartan drops like a stone, if we are going off that lol. Of course, don't forget, two to three shots from a Sniper rifle drains out a shield and the fourth shot takes down a Spartan if it's a head shot. I'm not saying that a Spartan isn't stronger then a Ghost in close combat situations, I'm just saying, someone having psychic powers has an advantage over a normal.
And why would a Spartan shielding have any capability to block psychic powers? Psychics don't exist in the Halo Universe after all...or at least, none on the Covenant and Human side; the Flood sorta of count, but mainly because they are body thieves.
So...stand off at this point? So the thread doesn't descend into just a massive 'uh huh!' 'nuh uh!' argument?

I know it doesn't say anything. However, in that page it says that the shields repel objects and energy bursts Psychic head asploding power seem like an energy burst to me.
Edit: Spartans may be half cybernetic, but they still have human cores to them; opening for a weakness there.
They also literally have an A.I. uploaded into their brain, which would filter things like that.

I already said that earlier, but you seem to have ignored it.

If you are talking about a Telekentic(like Phoenix or Psylocke) heh, a psychic would just 'reach' into the head and shut the brain down, or go the Scanner route, which is to 'reach' into the brain, put intense pressure on the inside of the skull, and make it burst.

The shield "disperses the heat experienced from Covenant energy weapons."
The energy from an energy weapon is an impact, as opposed to a ghosts physic penetration of the mind.

The A.I. could keep the brain running, however.
As it is, I think we'll have to keep this at a standoff until we know how the Terran psychic powers work. The shield "disperses the heat experienced from Covenant energy weapons."
The energy from an energy weapon is an impact, as opposed to a ghosts physic penetration of the mind.
That is from the armor section, not the shield section.

Now, the real question is:
Who would win, A Starcraft Ghost of a 300-Spartan?

until we know how the Terran psychic powers work.Well, other then things we've seen Sarah, and other Ghosts from the Expanded Universe use; making people see nothing while they move past(including people looking at security monitors), making people see something other then what was in front of them(a few Ghosts use their powers to make their contacts see someone other then the Ghost while getting information), the fact that a few have killed with psychic powers.
Reference from the original Starcraft trilogy, the Frontline Mangas, Starcraft: Nova/Ghost book, and the newest series, the Dark Templar Saga.

Not that, I mean literally how they work. Do they use particles, is it an energy wave or what.

Well the mind is a series of electrical impulses, so they must be able to project an extremely complicated "message" of electricity directly into the mind of their target. Electricity is an energy, and therefore the energy shield protecting the Spartan would have a good chance of blocking it. However the Ghost could take down the shield and dominate the Spartans mind within the time it would take before the shield regenerated.

Exactly. That's why I think it would be a deadlock. If the Ghost ambushed the Spartan, a quick burst of energy to destabilize the shield and a sniper shot and the Spartan is down for the count.
However, if the Spartan was in equal combat with the Ghost, his or her reflexes and raw power/speed would easily overpower a Ghost.

If the Ghost is dropping in for the specific task of eliminating a Spartan, I don't think the Spartan has a chance.

Depends on the environment. Like I said, it would be difficult to fool a motion sensor. In heavily populated areas this obviously won't help, but if the Spartan is alone or with a small party, the Ghost would be screwed.

At least in the games.
When you're talking about a future sniper, you have to consider ranges of upwards of two miles.

But the Ghost does have its ultimate trump card.
Tactical nuclear strikes.

That is a pretty nice trump card.
However, Spartans also generally are with the Fleet, so they get nuclear torpedoes. Tough choice.

Of course, that's a severe war crime according to Citadel law...
