Not in the least.

I do not think the comparison of holy with fire is apt. The holy spells are coming from within, but it seems that fire spells (in the case of mages and shaman) are either being conjured or pulled from the air so to speak. Warlocks I can see either way (depending how deeply they've gone into the shadow -- note: Hellfire).

I just mentioned the origins of the Paladins to show that not even their roots were limited to demons and undead.
So? They've evolved.
And I still maintain that Exorcism would be no different than Holy Lance.
And I still maintain that that is ridiculous.
Specially when he enters the Silver Hand
He didn't feel any particular devotion towards it, just scoured.
The book even directly states that he believed in the Light shortly prior to him picking Frostmourne.
If you read it again, you'll notice that the hammer gets heavier and heavier, and less 'shiny' as it were. His faith pretty much vanished after Stratholme.

The comparison was not between Fire and Light per-se. But rather between the danger of a Forsaken misfiring the judgement being quite similar to a Mage blowing his own face, instead his enemies'.
That's the point. Conjuring from the air and then blowing it out can be safe. But if it's coming from inside you, it kind of defeats the whole "what if it doesn't touch your skin" argument.

All that is under the assumption that game mechanics > lore.

What exactly would be mechanics in my post?
The assumption that Forsaken priests heal with the Light and not the Shadow.
Edit: In case it wasn't clear, we're talking about
viable healing
, not a trickle here and there forced out at the cost of great suffering.

For the undead (and Forsaken), this requires such a great deal of willpower that it is exceedingly rare, especially since it is self-destructive. When undead channel the Light, it feels (to them) as if their entire bodies are being consumed in righteous fire. Forsaken healed by the Light (whether the healer is Forsaken or not) are effectively cauterized by the effect: sure, the wound is healed, but the healing effect is cripplingly painful.
If brief is a synonym of cripplingly painful, then you're right!

What I don't is your claim that Forsaken healing isn't viable. And even that is irrelevant, because ''viable'' or no, it is how its done.
Healing > Healing + Pain

Common sense?
What is more healing, getting a cut stitched or getting a cut stitched and then getting 2nd degree burns all over your body?

Um... what?

The healer and the undead target feel pain but no additional damage is caused.
How does something that is "self-destructive" not cause damage?

Yeah, and being doused in burning oil feel like that too. And guess what? That's self-destructive!
And yes, because being a Paladin involves doing certain things with the light, and if you can't do those things well or at all, you can't be a Paladin!
