For some it wasn't possible to make them retroactive since we weren't tracking the data. =(

It's quite nicely done... I haven't found anything to say against it so far, other than it did indeed scare the crap out of me.
... though I was sad to see that all the times I reported a thread brought no effect, as I didn't have the achievement for that one.
also: seeing someone with a huge post count and a low achievement score? I find it hilarious, and I can't explain why.

Adamsm, yes :D

Moderators are cheating at Noteworthy Thread.
EDIT
: Also...
How is Early Member not a gold achievement? It's a feat of strength, basically.

With a view of not boosting +1s, how about the following:
Copper:
Casual Forum User: Post 10 threads that attract replies by more than 10 unique users.
Silver:
Forum User: Post 10 threads that attract replies by more than 50 unique users.
Gold:
Hardcore Forum User: Post 10 threads that attract replies by more than 100 unique users.
Centre of Attention: Post a thread that generates more than 100,000 views (or to avoid refresh spam, more than 1,000 unique user views)

Oh I like those.

Why thankyou :)
I'm not sure how easy they'd actually be to track... especially when post views include non-registered users as well....
New thought:
Is it possible to track one's progress towards a particular achievement? For example, '4/10 reports acted upon'.

I've been considering torturing users with an achievement for the 'secret title'.
I thought there was an achievement for that already.

Adamsm, yes :D
Good thing it's not me =DDD
I would avoid achievements based on the number of topics or replies posted, it would increase spam.
I agree. I've been juggling the idea myself and thought it would be better if there were no achievements related to post count.
Except maybe a "feat of strength" for most post counts, but I'm probably being a bit egotistical there. (Really, don't implement achievements related to forum posts.)

Interesting idea, though they may motivate thread spam (hopefully in the good way). And I'm not sure how they'd pull off Centre of Attention for "unique user views." In addition, keep in mind people do look at these forum pages yet are not a user (I have a tendency to link my posts that involve class balance on the WoW Damage Dealing Forums, for instance).

Hey one last thing. I noticed your ideas to implement. How about doing one based on how much data was uploaded (i.e. 1 MB, 10 MB, 100 MB, etc)? It's really hard to cheat your way around that anyways.

Yeah... I'm 1499 (62.9 MB) and you're 435 (49.3 MB). Very close to the same MB, but pretty significantly different count. I'm sure that's partly a function of the fact that more stuff has been available to upload over time. People who have uploaded a lot recently will have uploaded more data than the people who have been uploading longer.

Good thing that we've got
motivation
for others to prevent it =)

Yeah, I mentioned that I wasn't sure how well it'd work. Maybe IP logging? Might be fairly database intensive though, but probably a good long-term plan, in this day and age of scrutiny and transparency.

New set of possible achievements:
Provide 1 / 10 / 100 reports of errors in articles / pages that are subsequently actioned.
This doesn't seem to fall under Reporter, which only deals with comments / forum posts.

- Read every post of a Squishalot/Hyperspacerebel debate that exceeds 100 posts.
- Make a forum game in which Interest doesn't post for 24 hours
- Make a post about zombies in the Recycle Bin without a reply from Adamsm in its first 24 hours of being up
- Get two full answers to a question you post in two different forums before someone catches you.
- Start a thread that gets to at least 10 pages and is then locked by only posting the one time and never replying.

Heh, I would to, I was just looking at Hyper's suggestions :P
Completing all achievements would be a worth a title, certainly, as long as moderators were required to approve it.
