Would you be willing to pass a bill for a re-prohibition of alcohol for those same moral reasons? And how about the prohibition of tobacco?
Yes.
How about Coffee/Tea? R-Rated movies? Cursing? Shall we make those illegal too? Here's a word for you:
Theocracy
. I thought I'd seen you type something along the lines of "I don't push my religion onto anyone else" in another thread -- by carrying your morals into your vote and supporting the construction of a system of laws based on your religious beliefs, you're violating that principle IMO.
Your vote is your voice in the lawmaking discussion for society, not a test of your personal morality. "I choose to abstain" is a far different statement than "I support a means of
forcing
everyone to abstain." You must be pretty confident in your morality to be willing to take these decisions out of the hands of the individual (ie. personal choice), and put them into the hands of the government (ie. law enforcement).

I would vote to make them illegal because they're horrible for you. Coffee/Tea/R-Rated Movies/Cursing do
not
give you cancer and liver failure.
Make sure you're absolutely certain of your reasons before ranting. In this case, you were wrong.

Skydiving? Boxing? Saturated Fat? The reasons might not be religious, but the same idea applies. Why is it necessary, or even desired, to take these decisions out of the person's hands and put them in the government's? Why is it the governments job to keep me safe from my own decisions (or 'sin free' in the previous rant's context)?
Edit: You should also explain how you being religiously opposed to homosexuality forms your view on DADT, because I don't think homosexuality causes cancer or liver damage.

No it doesn't. Skydiving and boxing do not produce physical dependencies and addictions.

So how is that a "moral" opposition? Are you saying it's immoral for the tobacco/alcohol companies to produce a product that is addictive and harmful, and so it should be illegal to do so? I'm confused where the morality comes into the discussion, because if the previous sentence is true, I'm not seeing how it's
morally
wrong to grow marijuana in your backyard and then smoke it.
I'm not arguing anything here, I'm just asking for clarification. Specifically which 'morals' lead you to: (1) support prohibition of marijuana/tobacco/alcohol, and (2) oppose homosexuals serving in the military openly.

Someone hasn't seen me after Late Spring when I cant go Snowboarding anymore...

Joking aside.
Religion has nothing to do with safty.
It is alright for someone to practice whatever they see fit, as long as it harms no one aside from himself.
Example: A man gets a tatoo on his arm to join a group.
It is borderline in the case of Alcohol/Tabacco, but its been around as long as human life has been around. And it is the person's choice to drink/smoke... Not to add it makes Taxable money...
But it is wrong to make a profit off of others lives.
Example: Any Crimes you can think of.

Yes I think it is morally wrong.

I'm fine if you grow it your backyard or whatever, as long as it doesn't become legal. If it becomes legal I can assure you cigarette companies will immediately start making marijuana cigarettes as well.
oppose homosexuals serving in the military openly.
I oppose homosexuality as an idea. It's not necessarily very rational, but I oppose homosexual marriage, and openly being gay int he military.
Again, it's not necessarily natural, it's just my feelings. Not necessarily religious either.

I wouldn't doubt that, but I doubt the scale of the operations being anything near what they have for tobacco production. I see it being much more likely that companies will form solely for the purpose of growing and selling cannabis(in various packaged forms). People don't trust cigarette companies already, and I doubt that would change if they began selling marijuana.
Think of it this way: just because alcohol and tobacco are both legal doesn't mean you see alcohol companies making cigarettes and tobacco companies making beer.
It's much more likely that if any tobacco company picks up a cannabis operation- it will be in a very small scale in comparison to their main product.
But this is all pretty well off topic.

What does this even mean?

Some of my Buds are Gay, I for one, am not.
Why does everyone make such a big deal? Gay people have the right to do whatever they want. It has no effect on other people; and it shows that we accept all people reguardless of race, age, or veiws.
I remember in Middle School, a Spanish kid used to ask me out thinking I was queer...
I told him I wasn't interested, and we moved on.
Not a big deal.

Meh. Almost every single gay person I've met has been a *!@#$%bag, because of Prop. 8.
WTH people, I didn't vote for it, and I don't even live in California. But if it comes up that I'm Mormon, immediately I get hate, insults and obscenity. I don't hate people individually, I dislike the idea of homosexuality. But I guess it's alright to hate poeple you disagree with.

I don't hate the people, I dislike the idea.
So you react to people being mean to you by opposing their rights?
Happened in LDS church history. Not exactly pertinent, but I was just throwing it out there.
Also: How do you think people who are actually in the military are reacting?
People would go !@#$ing mental if you tried to ban black people or Jews from getting married
Race =/= sexual orientation.
E: I'll just add that I'm slowly becoming less opposed to homosexuality, mainly because of the good people I meet. But there as %^&*!@bags in every group, it just happens I've met the bad gays compared to the good ones.

Ok, well as long as we're going full-blown Theocratic here, might as well ban World of Warcraft, NON-HUMAN CREATURES USING MAGIC, WHY, THAT WILL LEAD TO PAGANISM AND TEMPTATION.... (lets burn those harry potter books, too.)

Sex can be addicting, that is true, but it doesn't kill you if you stop doing it.

Ugh, I dislike the people that ban Harry Potter books, and this article I read by some preacher about how WoW is evil because it teaches you witchcraft.
