When did Wowhead General become such a horrible forum?

My point is, the forcefulness you perceive is to some extent deliberate, and the goal is not to provoke or insult, it is to communicate. It is part of my style, and that style definitely has its merits.
Equating Ancient Greece and Rome to today's society is one of the biggest mistakes you can possibly make, especially from the position of a Classics student. Expecting to emulate the style of such an author and to have it be received in the same way is pure ignorance.

I liked the veiled post count insult
The way I see it, I find it very hard to imagine that over the past Year and 6 Months you have made almost 40,000 posts. WoW is the actual game, WoWhead (the forum side anyway) is all theory.I'd suggest you check out the L&RP section, primarily the Open RP's or the Forum Game section before making comments like that heh. You'd be surprised.

Based on that comment, I actually read the post.
I would offer this honest criticism, Aestu: If forcefulness and confidence are what you're attempting to communicate, then the fact that you have rather large numbers of people who repeatedly tell you that you're coming off as pompous and condescending should relay that you
aren't
being an effective communicator.

Why would anyone do that?
Life's affairs are zero-sum and a plus to one is a negative to another. It's like the child screaming the emperor has no clothes getting drowned out by the crowd. Part of what makes internet forums so worthwhile is that they allow everyone to have a voice, without getting drowned out by the crowd.
What would be the point of doing this, anyway? What's the benefit, the payoff?
It would help bring what the majority of the community feels relevant and useful to the forefront of the thread.
Way to often the main point of a OP gets lost in the pages of off-topic and trolling posts.
Threads with useless postings minimized would make sifting out the information you actually want easier. It would make these forums that much more useful .Being able to quickly scroll through a thread that has 50+ pages of crap is nothing but a good thing.

Whose opinion does a man with common sense regard as more credible, that of a superior or an inferior?
That of a
peer
, you moron. Peers who try to make themselves superior with no grounding at all will immediately undermine their own credibility by doing so. Case in point: you.
EDIT: I have been remiss in my
bunny
duties.

The one who's not being a dork. You realize of course Aestu, if you didn't talk like you ate the dictionary, the thesaurus and one of those super word searches for dinner and have the desire to throw it up all over us, you'd probably have more 'stimulating' conversations in the discussion threads, as people would respond to you. But the way you act currently just makes most of the forum goers angry as you come off as a condescending *!@#$% bag with an over inflated sense of purpose and ego, who is right over the rest of us peons.
tl/dr: Stop acting like God's gift to Warcraft, and you'll find the threads you post in don't get locked instantly.

So you wouldn't take advice from someone whose wisdom exceeds your own? Or do you believe everyone is equal not only in worth but also ability and wisdom?
On a forum where the only immediate connection is the fact that we all play WoW? That makes us all peers to each other from the outset.
You have not submitted any evidence of your superiority over anyone, yet you try to raise yourself above everyone. Thus, you are seen, rightly, as a fool.

We study these things because their wisdom endures and continues to be relevant to the challenges of the present day.
You could also call it retro fashion! Why wear what was cool last season when you can wear what was cool a hundred seasons ago?
Relevant, yes. In some very sporadic and preferably-treated ways. Equivalent? Hell no.
Read some T.P. Wiseman before you take your finals, please. You will get a much higher grade for having done so.

I just write posts and try to share information and convince others of my views.
By insulting them. None of this "Oh, but Marc Antony did it!" crap: you insult them. It may have worked in 1st Century B.C. Europe; it doesn't work in 21st Century A.D. western hemisphere culture.
I think this line of discussion is digressing off topic, so let's consider it concluded and move on.
No, I'm sorry, but it's not. You claim that the reason for your behaviour is that you are emulating the Elders of Old. And I am telling you that, I'm sorry, but that excuse does not wash with the facts of the incongruity between the two cultures.
In short: find another excuse.

Ah-ha. Tyranny of the majority.
And what exactly is wrong with that? I like many others come here to get USEFUL information and contribute in a constructive manner. Threads like these are nothing but a way to increase my epeen count with nonconstructive banter.

I'm sorry you feel that way. You are free to disregard my words.
And I do, though I constantly do the Wall Bang as I attempt to get it into your head, the way your acting, does you more harm then good on Wowhead.
I just write posts and try to share information and convince others of my views.
If you don't think I'm succeeding, then isn't that is sufficient for your purpose?
Except you've never done it; you post in a thread, and people who 'agree' with you already had the same views, you didn't convert them. And everyone else just mocks you constantly.
But I guess
extermianner
sig still says it best about you Aestu.
