After reading up on alot of the class changes in Cat, and the mechanic/itemization changes in Cat, i'm suddenly struck with the realization that in the time between 4.0.1 hitting, and the time that Cat launches, DPS Warriors are going to be HUGELY nerfed, and will most likely go into "hibernation" (ie playing other classes) until Cat launches.
One of the reasons, is that the "Rage Normalization" is completely screwed up, and makes a Warrior Rage starved for the majority of a fight. But the largest reason i believe, is the fact that they are completely removing the ArP Property/Talents from the game when 4.0.1 hits, but we can not get Colossus Smash (

) until Lvl 81, after Cat hits. Between that time span, our DPS is going to be greatly reduced from the lack of Armor Pen. DPS Warriors will be benched on the side lines due to non competetive DPS output.
I'm just leveling my alts. I'd rather not get /gkicked for wasting a raid slot, thank you.
And as for tanking, I can't hold threat against 50k bull^&*! mage crits and the like, and therefore get kicked the second the 15 minute immunity runs out.
Blizz has ruined the game for my warrior. I'm back to LOLONEBUTTON facerolling on my level 66 mage to kill the time over Fall Break at my college.

tanking is just fine. threat is fine. AOE tanking is fine. AOE threat is fine.
good news on the tanking side, imo.
for trash/5-mans, shout->charge->rend->TC->SB/SS seems to be a good opener.
also, the new cleave is amazing.
for dps, well - lol.
i took a screenshot before i logged out: 4400AP, 100% armorpen, hit capped, 55% crit, 4 expertise, and very little haste.
after patch: 2200 AP, zero armorpen (of course), under hit cap, 30-something crit, and tons of haste.
admittedly, a lot of this is fixable. i starting regemming, reforging, and digging through my bank for plate and i'm back to about 3500AP, 30% crit, 13 mastery, and close to hit cap. i still need to craft some pants, bracers and buy the badge cloak, but so far on the dummy, i'm at about 60% of where i was.
i do like the feel of arms, and i think with some more work it'll be ok. it's just gonna take some effort - if you give up now, you probably weren't really into the warrior class to begin with.

They took Arpen out. We should gem str right? I heard something about hit and haste, is it true? gem hit/haste instead of str?

Strength no longer increases Rage gain. Ragegain therefore relies on Hit and Haste, with Hit being more important until you reach the HARD cap at 24% stat/3% talent
Prepare to reforge a lot of hit out of your crit gear. Can't say much about gemming since I haven't seen any math on that yet.

For fury i just reforged all my haste to hit, it left me with 10% haste and 20,5% hit with only str gems.
Rage gen was kind of ok, did around 7,5k on ignis 10man, with some fumbles on rotation, so it was around 2k dps loss there compared to pre patch.
I hope that blizz moves down colossus smash to 80, otherwise warriors will be behind in terms of dps until cata, not bad, just not as good as some other classes.

I don't know if it had been mentioned yet, but I accidentally discovered a couple minutes ago while failing at warrior DPS that Slam can now be cast while moving. I mean the Slam as is, with the cast time, unaffected by any procs. PvP as Arms might have just become very interesting.

Heroics where around 2k lower for me then prepatch on trash had like 6,5k on bosses
I've saw a mage's arcane blast crit for 73k today... fun with 4k execute.

There is nothing wronge with a warrior. The problem was we needed hit rating in the past. With the new patch our melee attacks do our top dps. When ur hit capped at 8% with the old system a HUGE majority of ur hits miss. Even though it might not seem like it. Get the addon Recound and it will tell u how much ur missing. Get ur hit rating to 28% hard cap, get 26/26 expertise both weps, GEM PURE STR..
I do 7.5k dps on target dummy on my warrior.. as of patch 4.01
