So all of this is QQ about holy paladins not having competition?
Really, get over it. Blizzard won't make Holy Paladins wear mail just to make things "fair" with other classes.
Agree. Thats the thing! How does having pallys only being able to use cloth leather and mail make it fair? Seems like more competition to me.

It would be less competition overall...
Why you may ask? Because the likely hood that an item is de'ed is lowered greatly. Yes once everyone gets everything in a raid it doesn't matter but the fact that a 25 man might only have 1-2 holy pallys means that eventually every plate gear with heavy int on it will be de'ed or crap you might have 0 holy pallys and that means you DE every piece you get.
I guess you only care for the needs of a holy pally and thus your like more holy pally gear not less!

Intellect Cloth is viable for: Mages, Warlocks, Druids (Healing or Caster DPS), Shamans (Healing or Caster DPS), Priests (Healing or Caster DPS), Paladins (Healing)
Intellect Leather is viable for: Druids (Healing or Caster DPS), Shamans (Healing or Caster DPS), Paladins (Healing)
I have two holy paladins, and neither of them ever wear cloth or leather. Generally those items either have spirit or hit on them, neither of which I want.
So if you'd love to rant a bit, leather spell power items tend to get DE'ed more than plate spell power items, so maybe they should get removed from the game as well.

Here's why not: That would force blizzard to give Shaman correctly itemized gear

Alright, I thought I'd bring up the armor itemization list again.
Intellect Cloth is intended for: Mages, Warlocks, Priests (DPS)
Int/Spirit Cloth is intended for: Priests (Healing)
Intellect Leather is intended for: Druids (Caster DPS)
Int/Spirit Leather is intended for: Druids (Healing)
Intellect Mail is intended for: Shamans (Caster DPS)
Int/Spirit Mail is intended for: Shamans (Healing)
Int/Spirit Plate is intended for: Healing Paladins ONLY
Agility Leather is intended for: Rogues, Druids (Melee DPS or Tanking)
Agility Mail is intended for: Hunters, Shamans (Melee DPS)
Strength / Stamina Mail is viable for:
(when's the last time you saw this?)
Strength Stamina Plate is viable for: Paladins (Melee DPS, tanking), Warriors, Death Knights
Here, I fixed that armor itemization list for you, with Cataclysm itemization plans taken into account.
Notice a trend here?

I fixed it even further to prove the point. Every healing class will have their own itemized armor.
This thread is nothing but a QQ and waste of time.
So, in your opinion, boomkins don't use int/spirit leather? And mages/locks don't use int/spirit cloth?
And does int/spirit mail or plate exist? I thought that spirit is useless for shammies and pallies.
In my opinion, they should change a spec of some class to also use pallies' plate. Or maybe a heroic class in the expansion after cata?
And also, I have never met a 25-man raid with more than 2 holy paladins, and usually it's just one.

@Ahmi
Thats how it is going to work in cata, not on live.

Why dont we make all healers wear cloth only?
I mean, if you dont have a shaman or paladin in your group and a mail item drops, its USELESS.
utterly useless.
Also, if there are no hunters in your team and a mail item drops, its utterly useless.
You get the point.
Let there be diversity.

Now, you are just trolling. I'm going to recommend this post gets locked.
No reason to lock it (yet, at least), people just need to keep the discussion civil and organized without retorting to truly silly.

Plate-wearing Paladins is an iconic part of role-playing. To solve a problem by downgrading Holy Paladins to mail just breaks the whole concept of the Paladin.
The better solution would be to re-work Holy Paladins so that they are actual "battle clerics", converting the DPS output offered by Strength to healing ability instead. However, that would be such a drastic change to the class (and to game balance in general) that I doubt we will ever see it.

The plate will come in handy when Cataclysm goes live -- Holy Paladins now have a new niche -- front-line healer. They'll be stacked up with the melee and some of their tools with me short-range AoE healing. (I seem to recall mention of a cone heal.)

Yes, one of their heals is a frontal cone heal. It also sounds like Paladins may also be getting their own version of combo points, in the form of Holy Power, and building them up apparently relies on using Crusader Strike or Holy Shock.

And mages/locks don't use int/spirit cloth? Int yes... spirit, not as much; especially as in Cata locks and mages will not get any buff from the spirit stat.

Aren't they getting a mastery that increases their hit based on their Spirit?

I sincerely doubt it will be a 1:1 ratio. I took that idea as being -- you're a holy priest loaded with spirit, but you want to do Shadow for dailies or just for a change. With this talent, you'll have
some
hit rating, so that you're not too gimped.

Even if it's not 1:1, it's still better than nothing; it would make Spirit on a cloth drop somewhat useful for Mages/Warlocks if that's the case.
