Someone might have said it, but the changes to the starting zones is pretty much dumbing the game down. (Not gonna say anything about end-game content but I know where I stand).

Yes, "my rewording" does leave out the last part of a rigid definition from 1932. Guess it is no longer 1932 and SLANG like "dumbed down" might have slighly changed since them. Sorry my 30 second research hasn't provided you with definative proof. I was showing a simpilied example, without going into a mutiple page doctoral level thesis. You could say I "dumbed it down" so that you didn't need to read a 50 page report, but just a few sentences...
I was NOT saying the average player is of low intelligence, but rather showing how the slang phrase "dumbed down" is currently being used inplace of Simplified.
I'm sorry, were you complaining that I corrected you on a definition that you presented?
It was obviously good enough for you to reply with in the first place, so why does the fact that it came from 1932 make a difference now that I pointed out that your interpretation of the definition is incorrect?
Your simplified example was not correct, no matter its source or length of proof. That's the point. You could present your concept of the term in a 50-page report, and if it was based on the simplified example you presented, it would
still
be incorrect.

Personally, I LIKE the sound of most changes. I don't think I ever said the changes were bad. I hate grinding. I was just trying to explain why "dumded down" can and is being used by people. The problem with your argument is this: You're trying to explain to us that because the phrase "dumbed down"
can
be used in place of "simplified", that automatically means that the reverse is true, and "simplified" is interchangeable with "dumbed down". Which it's not.

I'd like to see the people QQ'n about the game being too easy down LK 25 man heroic. Or complete "The Insane" Or save up 100k gold, or an insanely hard goal. Oh wait less then .002% has downed LK 25m heroic, and so on.
And above argument is correct
Simpler =/= "Dumbed Down"
My beef isn't with raids being too easy. Raids are fine, IMO. My problem is with 5-mans. They may be trivial to most of you guys, but the fact remains that 5-mans are what most of the playerbase do when they're not raiding. It's the quickest way to gear up. I have a little problem with 5-mans being super-quick, but it's not the speed that's my main concern, it's the content. Again, it's all AoE; I want to have to do more in a 5-man other than spam AoE. I want to actually worry about which mobs have which skills, which mobs I should kill first, I want to worry about PULLING AGGRO for once instead of just going all-out. And, I dunno, maybe a little CC would be nice?
As a result of 5-mans becoming rather "mindless" instances with VERY large margins for error, the gap in skill between the average casual joe and the hardcore raider is larger than ever. From
my own personal experience
(your mileage may vary), most players I meet are either very skilled or very, very incompetent and unaware of their class roles and mechanics. Back in vanilla and BC, there were a lot of "good" (not great, just good) players. Even if someone wasn't decked out in raid gear, chances are they were decent enough to complete an instance or a raid with little or no error. These days, there are not a lot of "good, but not great" players anymore, at least from what I've seen. Either you're a great player, or you're a baddie. Again, just my own personal observation.
