I switched from Boomkin to Feral for my DPS spec, and while I don't get to do it a lot (cause Resto's my main spec and I usually do that) it's definitely more fun, and less finicky (damn you RNG) than Boomkin.
Regarding your Boomy gear, you're way over the haste softcap (440). If you could shift some of those points to crit, you should see a DPS increase. Specifically, you might trade your staff out for something else. (You really don't want that much Spirit anyway, it's really a Healing Priest/Druid weapon.) Even something like the
Battered Hilt Mace
+
Shriveled Heart
is probably going to be a better option. (
Comparison
) At the very least, if you're going to stick with Mag'hari's you should gem it with pure SP gems.
You're 0.2% under hit cap, which might not seem like a lot, but you'll really take a huge DPS hit if, say, a starfire misses. Switching one yellow gem to SP/Hit should put you safely over the cap.
You also have absolutely no set bonuses. 2t9, 2t10 and 4t10 are all worth getting, even at a loss of a few stats.

I got the staff because i was using the Spectral Kris and our healers did not want it.
Well the good news is that if you ever decide to off-spec Resto, you've got a pretty good weapon for it.
