If you're a protection Paladin, that's tank spec. Retribution is dps spec. As a dps you want low agro high damage, tanks are supposed to have high agro so the dps and healer don't get smashed.

Wait your a Prot pally, and your playing as a dps?
What level are you?
cus 70% is not a level. Not sure what you mean by Statboard so moving on for now. Could you put in an armory link so we can see your gear and spec plz. If your an 80 prot pally rocking a GS 1176, and your not holding aggro I can see y your getting kicked out of Heroics. Please let us know what level you are before we can help you.
Learn to read. He said he was 70% of 69.
To the OP: Use Righteous Fury.

I'm guessing the problem is that he thinks he's dps, and everyone else in the group thinks he's tank.

It sounds like you're expected to tank. As a tank the object is to have every mob attack you so that no one else in the group is getting hit. You run in first, have your Righteous Fury turned on and hit as many mobs as you can to make sure they are all angry at you. Don't just go after the mob marked with a skull, change your target and try to hit them all.
Example, your group is facing a pack of 5 mobs. You mark one with a skull because that's the most dangerous one. You run towards the group with the 3 dps'ers while your healer stays where he is. You hit skull and the same does the 3 dps. Skull will now be mad at the one of you that hit the hardest and the other 4 mobs are just mad because you disturbed them. The healer throws a heal at one of you, and the 4 mobs that haven't been hit thinks "WFT, lets kill that annoying healer". So you guys are fighting skull while the other 4 mobs are killing the healer = BAD!
What should happen is, you and the 3 dps'ers runs to the pack of 5 mobs. You have Righteous Fury turned on. You hit skull mob with a holy spell and because Righteous Fury gives you 80% more threat/aggro the mob ends up hating you and wanting to beat you up. Next thing you do is start hitting the 4 other mobs so they hate you too, then switch back to the skull mob and hit it some more. All 5 mobs should now be hitting you, and even if the healer heals you, all 5 mobs are still *!@#ed at you for hitting them, so they stay put and hit you.
Tanking is all about keeping every mob mad at you, hitting only you and none of your group. If you see a mob run for the healer, catch it and hit it until it hits you instead of the healer. If a mob starts attacking the rogue because he did a big crit, start hitting that mob to get it to hitting you again. You're the guy with plate armor and a shield, ideally you should be the only one getting hit.
So turn on Righteous Fury, make sure you annoy every mob in the pack you're pulling, not just the one with the skull, and keep an eye on things, if a mob attacks someone else than you, be quick and slap it so it turns it's attention back to you.

I'm guessing the problem is that he thinks he's dps, and everyone else in the group thinks he's tank.
Then he should stop signing up as a tank.
An armory link is really what is needed here, you can't get much help from what you have written here.
But as a few other have said...
Magic 8-ball says: "You must use Righteous Fury"

Do not use Righteous Fury if you are signed in as a DPS, that will pull the mobs from the tank to you which is, as a DPS, not something you want happening.
You might want to look into respeccing to Retribution if you plan on sticking to DPS for a while. You will be doing more damage and be more useful to the groups you join. You can always respecc later to Protection once you feel confident about tanking. Or you could look into dual spec, which would allow you to switch from one spec to the other. Keep in mind that dual spec costs 1000 gold to train, so maybe hold that off for now and stick to DPS with a Retribution build

1. Re-spec Retribution
2. Get decent DPS gear
3. Lrn2DPS
4. Get good Tank gear
5. When you have good enough Tank gear re-spec as Prot
6. Lrn2Tank

Yes but protection is the tanking tree for Paladins, that's what everyone's on about. Retribution is the dps tree. People may be looking at your talents and assuming tank, a tank who can't build decent agro to keep mobs focused on themselves isn't much use. If they are saying you have low agro then they think you're the tank, whether you meant to be or not.

I never said I was tanking I said DPS.....
Actually you did. You stated in your first post you were a protection pally. Prot=Tank. Re-spec to ret and dps...leave the tanking to a "tank".
