How to rebuild a naked level 70 char?

during the burning crusade i had one of those moments, and destroyed everything that was on my level 70 paladin, including all gear, bags, banked items, everything. so he is completely naked now, and has zero gold and no professions. he is also my only high level char on that server.
the guys i used to play with seem to have stopped playing as well, or are playing other characters now. so collecting old favors / loaning money / getting boosted is out of question as well.
how would you proceed? i have done a scarlet monastery run, which is about the highest dungeon i can handle while naked, and tried some of the northrend quests. the mobs are tearing through me like crazy, and i have 2 or 3 pieces of gear now, but only from the really easy quests, most of the quests are impossible for now. all of the outland quests are completed as i used them to make money back then.
i thought that levelling a gathering profession might be the easiest way to gain some money, and then use that money to go for a bit of AH equip. what are thoughts about this? what would you do?

Probably easiest is to pick up skinning and mining/herbalism, do some laps of low lvl zones to build up starting cash, and then buy cheap blues/greens on AH and get on questing.

Petition a GM. There is still a possibility to recover your gear.

Roll a DK. You get something around 30g from the starting quests, and it takes like 2½ hours. Then you can grind gold easily running hellfire ramparts few times. Then just send the gold to your pala.

Youre lucky its only lvl70, try outfitting a naked lvl80 pally (see murrlite for how i did so far) try your best to scrounge up a weap and quest, you can easily do quests naked with just a decent weap. If you find its to hard in northrend you can always go back to outlands until you earn a few more pieces of gear.

If you don't have your weapon yet and have about 10 to 15 gold, buy the Claymore from Halaa in Nagrand (its awesome at 66)
hope you spec'd RET... and have the pursuit of justice so you can move from node to node - but I agree with many... one gathering profession which can be tracked and skinning.
Don't bother with instances, get any cheesy two hand weapon and whack caster mobs in outlands and then move into north rend with ANY store bought plate - any i130+ item - regardless of stats just to give you base armor value.
When in lower level zones (HFP etc) concentrate on casters.
