Don't buy a premade, first off.
For your video card, you'll want something like the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX (look it up on Newegg.com, where you might want to buy it from). Pick out a processor, then pick out a motherboard that has the same socket type as the processor. Now, check what kind of RAM that motherboard takes (most are DDR2 or DDR3). For your case, your old one will work just fine. I'm sure your power supply won't be able to handle your new stuff, so you'll want to buy a new one (I recommend a 750 watt, but that's just me).

This
is what my current video card is, and you can use the same site to pick out your stuff - usually pretty good deals there.

Build. It's not that hard, but a little research goes a long way. I'd never built one before in my life, but I built this rig for about $700 ($800 if you count Win7):
Case
Motherboard
CPU
CPU Cooler
RAM
Hard Drive
Power Supply
Video Card
Case Fans
(Get as many as the case can support minus 1 because the CPU cooler is massive)
Optical Drive
Win7
Do it! Build! You'll be so happy you did, and it's something every real geek should do at least once.
