What happened to the +healing when healing and spell damage became just spellpower? They're both spellpower now. Some will probably be switched to the other stat and some will probably disappear. If the recipe is completely discontinued it will probably disappear from your profession as well.

this could probably all the same be in cata forums as its related to that, also you should probably say within for the first sentence as to what your referring to, i had to to think about it to long before i could actually be of any use in comment form.
they will no doubt be changed in some way, we WONT get a refund, and YES you should still get them now if your going to use them. wow hasnt changed yet.
honestly now: why do people keep posting these topics? the change has no set date, if youll use them, getm. theres also a million other topics related to this same question, just search the boards a little bit.

When Cataclysm hits, the current epic gems will be of lesser quality then the new rare gems. There will be new designs to be bought. The current gems will be obsolete, even if the stats are still relevant.
I'd buy the designs that will make money
now
, because I expect even

will be useless.

mabe I read it wrong but it sounds like the secondary stats will still be in game just not on the gear. So all those gem cuts will still be usable but some will be more valuble than others.

Indeed.
Yes, it's true that some stats, like Armor Pen, will no longer be on items, but still a viable stats and hence gem. However, stats like MP5 and Defense, as the OP stated are being completely removed and gems would be useless.
Most likely the current gems will be changed. The Defense one would be easy enough, giving Block Rating/Value or Armor, which there are currently no gems for. MP5 however I'm not sure. Maybe it will just be removed.
Honestly though, that shouldn't even matter. If you want to use/make money with the gem now, then get the recipe and use it for the next 6-12 months or so until things change. In this game you should never plan what to do today based on what's expected down the road, especially that far.

lol yea I was way off. Using this database 42 crafted jems with def rating and 41 crafted with mp5.
