Regarding MS in Arena
Return to board index
I've been having trouble with Hunters, Rogues, and Warriors in arena due to their MS abilities. I keep my bubble on myself, but almost always end up dying to the reduced healing I put out.
My profile is updated, outside of enchants (they're on my to-do list); what can I do to live longer against these classes in PvP?
Disc is my PvP spec, if its a spec issue.
Fear? Have your partner CC/attack? With a good partner, you shouldn't be dying from MS in pvp.
I use fear, usually they trinket out and resume bashing my face in. My partner being a less than optimally geared ret paladin, has to use his CC on the healer in order to get said healer killed.
Our games with an MS usually go like this if its another healer+dps pair: I run around spamming instant cast heals/shields on myself with DoTs on my pursuer. As I run around, I'm kiting the enemy dps away from his healer; my partner then moves on to kill their healer. From here its a "Who dies first?" competition between me and the other healer. Good news is that my partner is extremely good at surviving against another dps, so long as there isn't a major gear discrepancy between him and the other dps; which means if I die but he kills their healer we usually win even though he lost his heals.
It's purely a gear issue, don't concern yourself with getting trained down when you're in blues, it will happen .. allot.
What stats should I look for then, SP? Stam? resil?
they all come together so yes. the only stats u have to tradeoff are spirit, crit, and haste
A few things about your PvP gear:
-You'll want to go for SP/Stam gems, not straight stam.
-You'll also want the 4pc bonus from either set. 2 second shorter Weakened Soul can be a lifesaver sometimes.
-Run the ICC 5man heroics for better mainhand/offhand.
in your build is easily one of the biggest reasons melee beat you down so easily. This is one of the most-required talents for PvP.
-Get more PvP gear, of course! Even if you have to get the blue PvP gear, it's still better because of the resilience. You've got PvE belt, rings, bracer, cloak and neckpiece.
Those are the three classes a Priest should struggle against, no matter your gear level, don't worry about it, enjoy the practice. As you'll build up more Resilience, Stamina and Experience, you'll eventually be able to survive longer and longer until they simply can't bring you down anymore in a 1 on 1 situation, but they'll still be a nuisance... Add a well-timed silence or interrupt from their teammate and you'll struggle to survive, no matter the gear.
Try to save your Psychic Scream for when the Wound Poison / Mortal Strike / etc... effect is almost over, so you'll have the opportunity to heal yourself without the 50% penalty... etc... Depending on your partner(s), there's a lot that can be done to help you, most DPS classes can use CC to keep pressure off your back... Also try to have good communication with your partner, for example, don't blow Pain Suppression at the same time your partner is trying to CC the enemy off your back, or don't Fear a Disarmed melee opponent, etc...
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
Edit : noticed you said your partner is a paladin. Remember that CloS and bladestorm have a shorter cooldown than pain sup, so remember to call out for your partner to catch every second one with a
BoP(hand of protection). Ret priest is a pretty bad comp,
but all you gotta do is get off a fear on both players to lay down pressure, then assist your ret by bursting down his target with holy fire and smite stuff. Then repent hoj arcane torrent if possible for a win. You pretty much autolose crap like dk druid cos you won't kill them and mage rogue because you'll be on the back foot and can't freecast.
Good news is that he does this, and we're only doing this comp until his Rogue hits 80; then we badge farm him some PvP gear.
Went on the PTR and tried my luck against a hunter; managed to last a considerably longer time (about a minute at least) Aimed Shot was always up due to being in the dalaran sewers.
