What gems should I be using? For general PvP: BGs and Arena. (Though I do a lot less Arena.)
Currently using:
Blue/Red Sockets: Glowing (Sp/Stamina)
Yellow Sockets: Durable (Sp/Resil)
Don't really want technical answers, just want to know if I'm doin' it rite.
And before you even say it, I DID read the sticky. It didn't say which gems to use, it only showed which gems the "pros" use...and those gems didn't seem to have a pattern.

Your playstyle and comp will have a lot of impact on what gear/gems you use. There's no wrong answer unless you're gearing for attack power and parry.

I've been gemming stam, but I don't exactly have a full set of pvp gear to get my life up.

I have been socketing Mysterious (Spell Power / Spell Pen) up to the soft cap (75), and Glowing in all other sockets with the exception of the yellow socket in my chest, in which I've taken Durable. When my 2v2 team claws its way slowly up to 1800, I'll pick up Piercing Touch and Grimoire, doing away with the need for any spell pen gems and hard capping me -- hell, I might even take Lightweave and a couple of Mysterious, still, as opposed to enchanting my cloak with Spell Pen. I figure that, until I actually get 130 Spell Pen, I can just dispel Priests, and my comp encourages enemy Paladins to use Frost Res, not Shadow Res.

i prefer sp/int gems (luminous) over sp/resil gems. the extra 30 resil gained is not gamebreaking so i would rather get 450 mana for an additional fear or w/e

Depending on the type of PvP, I'd suggest using gem sockets for caping some stats you might not find on your current gear, such as Hit Rating and Spell Penetration.
For Hit Rating, if you want to completely avoid missing your target, you'll want at least 4% (against most races) or 6% against Draenei and Undead races (which get 2% bonus chance of avoiding getting hit by Shadow spells, through racials).
For Spell Penetration, you basically want to negate any Shadow Resistance your opponents could have. The most obvious are Mark of the Wild, from Druids (54 without talents or 75 with talents), Shadow Protection from Priests (130) and Shadow Resistance Aura from Paladins (130). While MotW and SProt are Dispellable, the Aura isnt.
These two stats are only really significant if you're doing serious Arenas and enjoy reliability (read: hate to see your spells being resisted or missing).
However, there's no "right" way to gem, especially for PvP, you normally want gems to make up for a stat you don't have enough of... If you find survivability to be an issue, you'll want stamina and resilience, while if you want more throughput, you'll want spell power and haste, while if you want more longevity, you'll want spirit/mp5 and intellect, etc... It really depends on what type of PvP you mostly do, what kind of gear you already have, what kind of Priest you like to be, the friends you usually play with or your team's composition in Arenas, etc...
That being said, you can't go wrong with Spell Power and Resilience.
