As a Elemental Shaman player I completely agree with this.

Don't choose a shaman if you want the top DPS, that'd be the wrong reason. Choose a shaman if you want to try playing a supporting (and DPS) role in raids. That's what shamans do best, they have a trick or buff for almost every situation. Somehow, raids just seem to go more smoothly when there's a shaman aboard.
I have to disagree a bit with the ease of finding gear for elemental though. Finding properly-itemised goodies without spirit and MP5 can be a bit challenging. And when we do, we're competing with resto shammies and holy pallies for it too.
