If your like me, you have methods of blocking banner ads and other junk reaching your computer. I noticed after this latest update to WoW Armory (allowing 3D animations and such) that if you went to view the character's talents that it would list only the character's glyphs and empty talent trees.
I personally use a modified Windows HOSTS file to prevent the ads from actually showing up on my machine my making my computer think it's connecting to ad sites when it's actually connecting to nothing at all; resulting in a blank image or "unable to connect" error being shown where an ad normally would appear. (more info on this type of ad blocking, google "HOSTS file")
Apparently, after confirming this in an e-mail to blizzard's WoWArmory support staff, (firstname.lastname@example.org) you must disable blocking to "ads1.msn.com" to enable viewing of the talent trees.
Just for the sake of argument, I did disable my blocking to that site and the talent trees started to work.
My main question is: WHY DOES BLIZZARD REQUIRE MICROSOFT NETWORK ADS TO BE SHOWN FOR THEIR SITE TO WORK?
Original e-mail from blizzard (less identity information):
Thank you for contacting Blizzard Entertainment.
The Adblock Plus addon for Firefox is causing talents not to display right now. If you use that addon, try disabling it. One user states "If you allow the ads1.msn.com/library.dap.js on the page, then it starts to work."
I wasn't able to make that work but when using EasyList(USA), unchecking the entry for |http://ads1
. fixes it.

It's possible to look at all the information you could want without even really seeing an ad
, this isn't much of an issue.

Hadn't noticed it until now. The script that tells which talent does what is not loaded. I'm pretty sure they should not have their scripts for website functionality be mixed with advertising scripts.
According to http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=12606830816&sid=1
they are further investigating it.
