Ret pallies have other weapons available to them from the first four bosses in ICC10.
Enhancement shammies have other weapons available to them from the first four bosses in ICC10.
However, weapons for elemental shamans are much, much harder to come across. As far as Wowhead knows, there is only
one
single-hand weapon in ICC (10 and 25) that is properly itemised for elemental shamans,
Tel'thas, Dagger of the Blood King
So, for elemental shamans, the choices are; kill the lich king, get lucky in ToC hard modes, or use the battered hilt.
Edit: Another side to this: only your pally can use a sword, so only your pally will be able to get Quel'Delar if the lore (and having the actual sword) is important to you.
