Me and a friend of mine are looking for someone to round off our team for 3s. Hes a Resto Shammy, Im a SV Hunter, and we need one more. Im good at CCing, but as SV im not really good caster/healer CC.
I was told that Spriest are great for this. Is this true?

We have a point-blank aoe fear, a single target fear, and a silence. That said; I play Disc.

They have AoE fear, 26sec CD talented.
Single-target Fear/Disarm, 2min CD.
Silence. 45s CD.
Not really good CCer, because of the cooldowns. Maybe as a sort of "Burst-CC".

Mana Burn is good for caster/healer control yes?

Assuming it's pvp, 23s. Any pvp Gloves reduce it's cooldown by 3s.

A warlock would probably compliment your team better.
Spriest have very decent CC, but with the cooldowns its gonna be heroism > fear > silence > fear. and if your target aint dead by then you're gonna have to last for atleast 45 more seconds before you have another decent chance at killing your target.
However, presuming you let your priest dispel before you pop heroism you're very likely gonna get that kill, and if he dropped a few dots around on other players before heroism pops in an you go in for the kill, that healer is gonna have a really hard time.

I just realized that a Sprist can work a lil better with me and my friend.
As a SV Hunter, I've alot of CC and do a fair amount of control in 2s, and can make it 2v1 easily. Most 3s are a healer, CC, and some form of burst dmg. I find that I get trained so I cant lock down the healer, and I can see that a Spriest might help.
Purge
,
Tranquilizing Shot
, and
Dispel Magic
would be mean if it was focused. I mean can you Imagine a Priest blowing Pain Surppression than losing it lol

Pain suppression gives a dispell resist of 65% on the target, add in the priest's 30% and I highly doubt you'll be taking it off.

5% chance is still there... nothing wrong with optimism

Yes. Mana Burn so they run away and try to LoS you, wait for them to come out to heal, Dispeling their HoTs / buffs (on their teammates while you're LoSed and running up to the corner) in the meantime and when they do come out, Fear them and resume Mana Burning. Win. Only really effective on a Healer, most casters could care less about their mana and will punish you for casting at them if given the opportunity.
This is doable no matter your spec (well, as long as you spec into Imp. Mana Burn...).

Yup, no Priest in their right state of mind would skip Imp. Inner Fire, Meditation, Veiled Shadows or Dispersion, all key survival and/or longevity stats. Argggh's spec would be more like it.
However, I disagree with...
Mana burn isn't used a lot in 3's even as discpline and you generally only use it when you press the advantage.
...depending on your compo, Mana Burning can be an essential part of your strategy. And even if you don't actually burn any mana, the simple fact of making the opponent healer have to walk out of your LoS (and often of his teammate's LoS) is priceless. In other words, I'll use Mana Burn to put pressure on them and depending on how they answer to that pressure, I'll either keep doing it (if they don't try to avoid it) or take advantage of the situation in some other way.
