i just need to know why mages or any cloth wearing class (mages do this the most ) stand in melee range? im not try to sound like a troll but as a healer and tank im a little curious.

No mage stands in melee range on purpose unless they are trying to use point blank AoE like arcane explosion. More often than not they end up in melee range because the tank moves the boss, the boss pulls the mage in, or the tank can't hold aggro and the boss moves. Sometimes the mage will move out of the area, but if they aren't getting hammered they may not to keep the dps going as high as possible. Sometimes thing are just tight beause there isn't anywhere safe to go. And if the boss is moving all over the place, the mage may get fed up with all the disruption to casting.
