What about my rotation? My gear is pretty solid, or at least I think it is. I'm still doing around 1.7k dps
1.7k with this gear? You are kidding right? I did as much as fresh ding. Actually not me, but my Magma totem.
As for your single rotation. Its bad word. Your spells should be cast in more of a priority list, than a strict rotation.
1. Keep Flame shock at the target but dont recast it till its falling (last second or just after). Flame shock (and shocks in general) will be you least used skill. Its not Enhance, dont spam it.
2. Use Lava Burst as soon as it gets off cds, unless you have to cast Flame shock first.
3. Use Chain lightnighng in Clearcasting proc just after Lava Burst.
4. Try to measure how many normal lightnings or chain lightnings you need to squeeze before Lava goes off cd. Spam them.
Check
the movie, something tells me you need it.
Use proper consumables, weapon imbues (flame), your perma alchemist flask at least, totems.
Do something with trinkets, one is pretty crap resto trinket, the other is pretty bad for Ele (because you crit a lot).
On both my casters i got

Replace the resto gear - you got 7 items with mp5 on it. Mp5 is wasted stat for ele, as we dont ever run out of mana due to spell cost reducing talents, mp5 from Int talent and Thunderstorm..
