Is expertise that important?

Well I used to play ele I just came back to enhance because ele became old and i heard enhancement has higher potential dps, but thats not what im trying to say
I have some okay gear as enahnce 1P t9 1P T10 and the rest are H ToC/ICC 5 mans gear and i have almost 0 expertise i know alot of people go for it but is it really that big of a dps increase i have done roughly 4k dps on heroic bosses with my low expertise so should i gem/enchant, try hard to get gear that has it or just not worry about it at all?
edit: I just looked a seond time I have 9 from talents and 5 from gear so 14 atm if i do need it what numbers should i be going for?

Expertise is relevant to our white hits, stormstrike, lava lash, flametongue weapon, windfury, maelstrom stacks, lightning shield procs. You need the cap just like rogues, warriors etc do.

With maxed out Unleashed Rage, you'll need 140 expertise rating to cap IF you're not an orc with fists/axes.

Most enhance attacks require you to hit with a melee weapon. Shocks and lava lash do not depend on expertise, but the rest of your ~85% damage does.

The reason why you want to the cap (26) is while Shaman do a lot of magic damage, Storm Strike's debuff is a huge dps gain but you only get it if SS hits. About 64% of the damage can be dodged/parried.
