Black Magic vs. 63 sp for Spriests?

I haven't done any testing of my own, but to the best of my knowledge, these are the stats:

Black Magic
* 250 haste
* 30s internal CD
* lasts 10s
* 50% proc chance

Mighty Spellpower
* speaks for itself

Black Magic will give you roughly a 30% uptime, giving you an average of 75 haste. The most current pp values I have put haste at .98 and sp at 1.00. Thus Black magic has a pp value of 73.5 and Mighty sp is sitting at 63. Still, most the top level spriests on my server are sticking with Mighty sp (including myself--my weapon is also used for healing so it's no contest which is better).

Also keep in mind that random haste procs can affect your rotation, so if you use a rotation macro, it may cause problems. And if you are using a staff, sp is by far superior.

tldr: 63 SP is better partially because it's also more consistent with your damage and besides, benefiting most from using Black Magic requires you to work harder to get even still, lower results than 63 SP. at least for now... This may change one day.

Since haste procs don't affect the tick-rate of dots already cast on a target or the cooldown of skills like mindblast, I'd think black magic would be quite a bit inferior to a straight SP chant - at least for shadow priests...

I'm pretty sure it goes like this:

Black Magic > SP - 1 handed weapons
Black Magic < SP - Staves

I've never had a chance to test Black Magic, as I've been using staves since 3.1 =/
