Want a new pet, fastest way to level him.

Going to grab a new one based on its looks, but looking for advice in getting him to 80 (he will be 75).
Granted the mobs have to be at least green, but does it go faster if they are yellows?

I really don't want to do that to a group, but then again in my parses my pet isn't really a dps contributor other than his buffs.

As far as leveling a new pet in heroics goes this is what I do, before the group even starts I simply say, "Hey all, I apologize for my pet in advance I am just using him in here to level him, if any problems arise I will switch to my wolf" With that said nobody really seems to have any trouble with it at all and as fast as pets level in heroics now you wont need to use it long.

I was in the same boat as you are. I suggest doing what I did, I leveled my pet in a very short time. There are two spots in Storm Peaks I went.
1 place: Snowdrift Plains. Kill the Elementals. Because, they respawn VERY fast, plus you get great loot, Crystallized Air which sells for a good amount of money.
2 place: A little bit West of Thunderfall, kill the Mammoths and Rhinos. Very very fast leveling, PLUS, again, great loot, especially the Rhino meat which people need for cooking quests.
Level fast and get nice loot for nice money.
Plus, since your pet is 4-5 levels lower than the mob, it gets a lot more XP. Just watch for mending your pet, just in case.

Agree with the other posters. Just run it through heroics.
Since any pet will automatically level up to at least 75, it shouldn't take more than a couple heroics to get him to 80. I would be absolutely shocked if anyone noticed his level---and the DPS impact will be minimal if you're SV.
Heroics are such a faceroll with the current gear that it would take a miracle for a lvl 75 pet to make any sort of noticeable difference.
