Also, we can't judge anything from gearscores, as those first of all aren't based on optimal stats, just the amount of them. To do that, we need an armory-link, wowhead-profile or similar.

My shaman has exactly 5300 gear score (this week, at least). This gear represents the most optimal stats, tier bonuses, gemming & enchants I have been able to get my hands on thus far (I have some pieces that would push my score higher, but be less optimal).
My standing dps (like on Festergut) is over 6K (closer to 7K if I don't have to stop and puke). Movement fights drop (with some bad luck coming my way drop) as low as 4.5K. But mostly, it's pretty easy to beat 5K in ICC.
On the other hand, I have a gear score of 5100 on my healing set, and there's no way on God's green earth I'd try to heal a raid. That's for heroics only. If you suck (like I do at healing) you need to be way over geared for the content. Moreover, that 5100 is just a collection of crap I happened to have lying around because I don't want to spend 45 minutes in LFD to do my daily random. It does not, in any way, represent my best effort at putting a healing set together.
Getting a link to their armory would allow us to properly consider their gear.
Stats and rotations have been (and will be) discussed endlessly by people who don't
read the stickies. Specifically, those dedicated to
Elemental Shaman Raiding.
