A bag slot is defined by two numbers...the first is the bag, the seond is the slot in that bag.
So,
#showtooltip
/use 1 5
will use whatever item is in bag 1, slot 5.
single numbers are equipment slots, while paired numbers are parsed as bag/slot.

P.S. If anyone knows how to make the tooltip show (the popup thing telling u about the item, required lvl, amount it heals/regens, it doesn't work with #tooltip fully, it only gives the right picture), I'd happily hear :).
And, as for this, it's
#showtooltip
not
#tooltip
. Also, you must pick the
?
icon for the icon to change. I'm not sure if the tooltip/icon parser is cool enough to look at what's in the slot, but if it isn't, you'll also need to specify what tooltip you want which will partially defeat the purpose.

Well pelf, that would defeat the purpose unless you use a very generic food / drink icon in which all will be made up for.

You could rewrite HighFive's
"Deconstructive"
to edit macros to pick food, instead of disenchanting/prospecting/milling...

Indeed. But, like they said, there are addons for this exact purpose. He is not the first to want this :).

Are you counting the bags properly?
0 = backpack
1 = bag to the left of the backpack
2 = bag to spots to the left of the backpack
etc.

There's always the one in the thread in my signature...just replace the mount names with the slot numbers on your mounts page.

You can #showtooltip of a specific bag slot. I did this for my hunter's pet feeding macro.
For example, I keep the pet food in the top right slot of my last bag (the bag all the way on the left), so that's bag 4, slot 4. From memory:
#showtooltip 4 4
/cast Feed Pet
/use 4 4
That shows the same tooltip and icon as the item in the bag slot. Including the number of items in the bag slot, so I know when it's time to go fishing.
For reference, the information on the bag slot was from the
Making a macro
page on the wiki.
