Hello
Recently I've been gearing up my prot paladin.
This is his armory profile.
In case it doesn't show, Essence of Gossamer has just been replaced by The Black Heart. Next on the list of triumph emblems is the Glyph of Indomitability.
With that out of the way, I can soon buy the first piece of gear for frost emblems and I was wondering which I should get.
The two I have been thinking about the most are:
Replacing
Ancient Aligned Girdle
with
Verdigris Chain Belt
. (
Comparison
)
-or-
Replacing
Platinum Mesh Cloak
and
Ancient Aligned Girdle
with
Sentinel's Winter Cloak
and
Shieldwarder Girdle
. (
Comparison
)
I don't think I will have a steady flow of Frost Emblems any time soon, so I would just like to hear a second opiniong before using what I have.
Thanks in advance :D

The best you can do is to look for slightly lower level cloaks/belts and think about them - if there is an easy and good belt you could get, then buy EoF cloak. Or otherwise.

The belt is an amazing upgrade for almost anyone, given its high amount of bonus armor and delicious sockets.
I'd buy the belt and then the cloak some time later, if you're not getting as many Frost emblems every week - like me :P

Thanks.
Ran the question through Rawr, and that suggested the belt over the other two upgrades too, so I guess that is what I will do. :)

The back is always the superior choice unless you have a 245+ back, which I highly doubt.
Fact is backs are rare and typically the lowest or near lowest drop rate from a boss. Especially tanking ones, they just don't exist in great number. Even if something else is a better upgrade the back will be your best bet, not to mention upgrading 2 slots (your specific case) is better than only upgrading one.

stamina stamina baby!
I thought the red/blue 9 stamina bonus was worth using and filled it. Otherwise stamina.
You can't go wrong with the cloak, then the belt. After that, consider getting the Tier gloves and chest (which are buffed in 3.3.2).

I too noticed that 4T10 is somewhat of a sick condolence to -20% Dodge from ICC debuff
Haven't run numbers for T10/264 yet, but in T9 range it's fairly easy to get block cap for not worry much about facesmashing hits from bosses in ICC. Without serious drawbacks, shall I add.

As far as I know, with the 4pT10 bonus not being that great at all, the two tier pieces that a Prot should be going for are
Head
/
Shoulders
and not
Chest
/
Hands
. I (and I'm sure a few others, both here and over at Maintankadin) still believe that
CC
and
Gauntlets of the Kraken
are still going to be BiS for EH over the tier
Chest
/
Hands
. Honorshammer also believes so and gives some reasoning behind it in his
blog
. The only other thing I can say is just wait it out for the patch to actually go live and check how the 264 pieces line up with the
CC
and
GotK
. If they are what you want, then go for it. But if you are going for an EH set like I am wanting to, then I think that Head/Shoulders +
CC
/
GotK
/
PoM
is the way to go.
Did I mention that the
CC
will automagically soft cap a naked prot paladin with the proper
talents
and
glyphs
on expertise?
Keep in mind though, both Chest and Hands T10 are getting a buff in the next minor patch (presumably the coming week) - their stats will be a little revamped, and the armor will be buffed by about 50%, making them really lucrative.

Getting the cloak tomorrow. But the whole reason for this topic is that I'm in a very casual guild, where ICC10 on a semi-regular basis + PUGs is all I can hope for => my inflow of frost emblems won't be very high.
But thanks for all the suggestions.
