What the Hell is Shadowstorm Damage?

All the guides I've read say that you can use nature resist to reduce damage during the Rotface encounter. However, when I look through my combat logs, it says everything is shadowstorm damage. Can anyone please explain this? Is nature or shadow resist still good here?

You'll ideally want one
dr
uid
, one
hunter
or
shaman
, and one
pally
or
priest
for a raidwide 205 nature
and
shadow resistance. Raising shadow resistance but not nature resistance or vise verse will have no effect, they have to be synchronized to make an effect on mitigating shadowstorm damage.
Coincidentally the nature of this spell damage makes
Aura Mastery
useless as it'd only benefit the shadow resistance aura.
