With refer a friend, when your friend levels up two levels he can grant your toon a level, up to his level. So if your friend has a level 40 and you have a level 1, he can grant you 20 levels. If your friend has a level 40 and you have a level 35 he can grant you 5 levels.

He is getting Refer A Friend bonus levels applied to him. I think my /played on my 61 rogue is about 6 hours because of that.

If his recruit-a-friend buddy has several free level boosts built up this is quite possible. I believe you can store up 30 level boosts to give to someone through that system.

Giftable levels are earned for every other level the referred player receives, up to level 60 (so 30 giftable levels from one character if your friend levels from 1 to 60). The character on the referred account can't level past the character on the referrer's account via gifted levels. The referred player has to buy a key for classic WoW before they can gift any levels. You can't refer an existing account, but you can refer someone who plays (even yourself - RaF is great for dual-boxing), who will then create a new account on which they would have to create brand new characters (so your friend's level 40 would only matter if it was on the account you got him through RaF, and only then if it was within the initial 90 days).

so one last question about it, if my freind has a level 40 say when he Recruits me he can stright away give me the levels or you build them up as you level after you have Recruited someone?
You can't recruit an existing WoW account. The referral must be used when the account is created.

I was sitting AFK in stormwind at the flight master and standing in front of me was a level 20 human pally. while i was sitting there he dinged 21 then 22 then 23 and so on all the way to level 41. i promtley said WTF how did you do that and he "LOL" and ran off. Has anyone else come across this? i reported him to a GM but really WTF. This was on Nagrand so no private server hacks or anything like that.
