which gives a lot of very good gold making advice as well as videos so that's worth a look.

The trouble with gold guides are that the clever ideas in them are already being exploited by others with the same guides so they are not really clever anymore. On top of that the prices between realms wary a lot so a brilliant idea on one server may not work on another..
Everyone can figure out how to farm stuff. Mining ore, skinning animals, grinding Eternal Fire or running lowbie instances for drops to disenchant and shards to sell.
Making a living of AH takes a different mind set. Let me illustrate by telling you about a friend of mine. My friend was new at wow and broke so he asked me how to earn gold. I told him about mining, herbalism and skinning, and he picked up herbalism and skinning. I also told him how to check the price on AH before selling and how prices tended to rollercoast up and down. Always check the price for today before posting your auctions.
So my friend picked herbs and skinned and sold it on AH.
One day he was killing those gorillas just north of Booty Bay to find those quest drops, and he was getting a lot of fine leather and then it struck him that he could skin the mobs killed by others too. There are always people killing those gorillas so he started chain skinning other peoples mobs and filling his bags with leather. He was very happy..
However, after a week or so of skinning gorillas he noticed that he couldn't always get a good price for his leather. Some days the AH price was ridiculously low so he started to stash his leather in the bank and only selling on days with high prices. Lightning struck again and he started buying up leather on cheap days and selling it back on expensive days. Pretty soon he gave up skinning gorillas and just traded leather on and off AH rather than collecting leather himself. He was starting to become rich.
He started to get a feel for the price on different kinds of leather and discovered that a leatherworker could turn light leather into medium leather, medium into heavy leather and so on. He compared the different prices and made a leatherworking alt to turn lower quality leather into higher quality leather whenever the prices made it sensible.
He ended up with a small leather empire, buying loads of leather of AH, sometime reselling it for a profit, other times turning it into a higher quality first. Both things demanded little of him, just checking the prices once in a while and scooping up everything cheap. As for turning low quality leather into the higher kind, his leatherworking toon would work unattended while he was eating dinner or watching a movie.
It's all about seeing the angles. I fell in love with a pair of really cool leather bracers the other day, but I did find the 2800g price tag a tad steep so I used wowhead to see where they dropped and if it was possible to go get them myself. It turned out it was a leatherworking recipe and the recipe was on AH for 500g. The mats for the bracers amounted to roughly 1000g, so I bought the recipe and enough mats for 3 sets of bracers and gave the recipe to my leatherworking friend in return for him crafting my 3 pairs of bracers. My friend loves me for the free 500g recipe, and I love that I spend 3500g on a recipe and mats for 3 bracers, sold two of them for 2400g each and ended up having a happy friend, a nice pair of bracers and 1300g more than when I started..
