If you're not going to get the socket bonus for something then it doesn't make sense to match any of the sockets. If you moved the hit gems from your boots and chests to your gloves and weapon, you'd pick up 8 strength without giving up anything else (except the gold to regem, I suppose, but if you're using your triumphs to buy gems it shouldn't be too bad).
