Maybe as a female myself, I pick up on whether other players are female better.
I have 4-5 female friends and acquaintances who play, and I have raided with at least half a dozen more, here and there.
The most impressive one was from a mostly military guild, she got on vent and read off her raid rules, and I swear by the time she was done I was ready to jump up and salute. The raid was a lot of fun too!
I know of one player from another country, she has an "exotic" sounding accent, so anytime she says something on vent the raid breaks down for 5-10 minutes while all the 15 year old boys go "Ummmm, heh heh heh, could you repeat that please?" just to hear her talk. Yeah, she's not going to hop on a plane and be your girlfriend just because you drool audibly into your mic, so could we get on with this please?
I don't see why it's such a big deal that females play. Yes, there are female gamers. There are more male gamers, but during a raid, going off on a tangent about player gender is just pointless.

Wow. Some of that article might actually be true (not too sure about the 16% of WoW players are female. I'm actually convinced it's slightly higher.)
